Yeah, but the top managers get paid the top dollar to manage the top players. Most ambitious managers want to move up as they know the money will follow success.
Jump just for money and you are at risk of ruining your reputation as you are working with substandard tools.

Managers who are damaged goods or who have limited ceilings will manage Everton.
Ancelotti only came as he’d been given the bullet at Napoli and jumped at the first opportunity.
For Moyes, this is as good as he’s going to get. He’s old, so has no chance of reaching the level of reputation he had when he left the first time. But he’s still a good manager and will see plenty here to work with and to try and build up again toward the top of the table.
And Moyes is a great example of what can happen if you take the wrong job. Ambitious managers are very careful about what jobs they will take.

It was only the wrong job because he wasn’t good enough .
But he believed in himself to take it .
Which is the same for most managers , they will believe they can transform the 30year old clown show that is Everton.
They will fail obviously.

Partly, but the biggest issue they had was their squad was old and ready to fall off a cliff.
My hope is Moyes can put some structure in place, maybe win a cup, and then let someone young who can carry it forward take over. Instill a culture with higher standards so that a young ambitious manager will see us as a worthy project.

This is what I see his remit be from TFG. He wants to deliver more but they want him to stabilise the footballing side whilst their structure beds in and he will eventually be replaced by someone to take us forward, working within the structure. This a big transition season for us. I’m happy with all of this

I reflect your hope .
And I have no doubt that Moyes for all my dislike of him, ( and for the first six seasons I was a relatively happy with him ), he will re- establish us as a solid mid table club , perhaps even snag a European place .
My problem is that I don’t enjoy his tactical style and moreover I don’t believe he is capable of propelling us any higher , and when you get that new young manager the first thing he will have to do is dismantle everything and start again .
I think as a club it would have been preferable to start our journey firmly in the direction we won’t to go and not take soulless detours into dead end football.
But we are were we are .

I know ,
Imagine entering the ‘ most important and challenging period for the club ‘ and dismantling the existing structure to replace it with an entirely new and incomplete one .
Not the the most inspiring or intelligent example of forward planning .
Some would call it rank amateur.
It has been a predictably dysfunctional and chaotic close season as a result, producing a very dispiriting start to the season .
They definitely need to up their game somewhat.
