2025/26 David Moyes

He did get plenty of blame for the Leeds and Wolves losses but it doesn't suit the very polarization you are bemoaning in your latest post.

He did get blame from loads, but I assumed they were talking about the very pro Moyes posters who were having no criticism after the cup exit. I didn’t read that as being about the normal posters who are very happy with Moyes without being so all in and touchy, so I don’t know that’s really an example of polarization.

I was really disappointed we went out early and I just avoided reading the moaning after the loss so I didn't see too much of this dogged defending of Moyes post-cup loss. My point in response to all of that was in the context of people being upset that we lost to City and trying to put it next to the Wolves and Leeds losses as if they're in any way the same type of result.

I'm firmly on the fence with Moyes. I didn't want him to begin with, but I can accept he did a good job at the end of the season and that a stable mid-table finish this year will be good for the club. I can't get behind the faction of impatient children who are setting expectations for European football because we had an average transfer budget for the first time in years and had to replace half a squad. They're just working themselves up to be angry and moaning. We will get there soon but it's not going to happen in 18 months and one transfer window.

It's fair to criticise Moyes when we lose to the likes of Leeds and Wolves. It's not fair to label everyone refusing to engage in criticism of Moyes a "Pro Moyes faction who praise him for the wins and absolve him of any responsibility for any defeats. " when you're using City and Liverpool away defeats to sharpen knives for his back. Taken on the face of it only 4 defeats with two of them to the top teams in the country is actually a fine job and doesn't really warrant much criticism.
