2025/26 David Moyes

so next season is his second window

( this will be the bigger spend )

so then it’s bigger
It's not about how much we spend. It's how we spend the money. Last summer we spent a lot of money on players who the manager doesn't use, or who don't improve the first team.

If that happens again with an even bigger budget, we will go backwards. I dont trust the recruitment team to find the right players or Moyes to develop players

so let’s see

Utter nonsense, what people want to see is progress, some young players coming through, signs of a coherent playing style. That's a fair yardstick to judge any manager of any club by.

Young players coming through? Our youth set up is pathetic. The is a reason why it’s been getting a major overhaul at the minute because it’s not up to standard. The standard of players in the youth set up haven’t been anywhere near PL standard. How many in tag youth set up can get into this first team at the minute? None.

Have we had progress this season? Yes by a country mile from previous seasons. We haven’t hit 50 points in the league in 5 years. That was under Ancelotti after previous windows of spending a fortune.

I’ll give you the playing style! Do Arsenal play amazing football? No, they are dull to watch considering the players they’ve got. Will there fans care about style of play ic they win the PL and CL this year? No they won’t.

On and off the field hasnt been good enough for decades. The is a reason why the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton are in the league. Not are they better than us on the pitch, them smaller clubs than us, are miles better off the pitch than us too.

Our last home game next weekend. Going to be a strange one in that we're not leaving our historic home or fighting to avoid a relegation.
Will there be vocal disapproval of Moyes or just a lukewarm rounds of applauding. In many ways a case of so near, so far.

@Alan Whittle can you give your view on this please.
It's not for me to make a direct comparison between the two even if you could. The context is different. When Hodgson came we had lost 7 games in a row. All we cared about was survival, the thought of challenging to win stuff would have been laughable.
The football was pragmatic at best, boring and turgid usually. Substitutions were rare, too late in the game and often pointless.
But he saved us. Do we love him? Yes
Do we want him back? Never.
We had no expectations. I know now that we are getting a little bit above our station, but then, survival was victory and we were bored, frustrated and extremely pleased in equal measure.

…..it’s about progression to me and we’ve progressed. We need to progress again, that’s his challenge but I’d be sure he’ll at least see out his contract unless he either doesn’t want to or is involved in a relegation scrap.

I’d be very surprised if a replacement is even being considered, be interesting what the odds are for him leaving his job.
We have one more points than last season (and Dyche's last full season) with a couple of games to go. If it's progress, it's incredibly modest progress despite having a transfer budget far greater thn in those two seasons.

I don't think he'll be replaced either, largely because neither TFG or a sizeable proportion of our fanbase have any real ambition. We'll just keep pootling along, doing nothing.

Not necessarily young players from a youth set up. Bournemouth have signed lots of young players and developed them.
