He has got more than that already with 3 games to go after selling 5 of his best players over the last year?
?
I said he's had hype around him for a while, and I recall even with that hype he never got more points than Dyche, and even now, he only has 4 more points than us. If we're benchmarking him against Everton, then that's it. Doing well at Bournemouth is just that.
I understand the reservations. However:
spent £390M
sold £230M
net spend of £160M over 3 seasons.
Moyes had a net spend in just one summer window of £95M
Also, look at the progression under Iraola:
season one 12th
season two 9th
season three (so far) 6th
Bit harsh. He lost pretty much his entire defence in the summer and is looking odds on for European qualification despite that. He's supported by a very professional operation at Bournemouth, a bit like Frank at Brentford last season, so my worry about him would be walking into something that is, ahem, a bit less professional with us but he's done a good job this season under sub-optimal circumstances. Their wage bill is very similar to ours too, so having them ahead of us, even by 4 points, isn't bad at all. Their five year net-spend is about £100m more than us, that's fair comment, but that equates to about £20m a year, it's not huge but it is more. I also much prefer the way he sets up his team, so I would have him ahead of Moyes, personally.
Wont blag I know the ins and outs of him, or Bournemouth.
For me, he's spent a fair bit there -I recall when we played Bournemouth last season or the season before - when we played them - having 2 players who cost more than Everton's entire matchday squad.
I suspect some big sales brought down the net spend?
Maybe he'll be a good manager, but a 37% win rate at Bournemouth. I'd rather Glasner.
On managers - It'll be interesting to see how Fabregas does.
