2025/26 David Moyes

He has got more than that already with 3 games to go after selling 5 of his best players over the last year?

?

I said he's had hype around him for a while, and I recall even with that hype he never got more points than Dyche, and even now, he only has 4 more points than us. If we're benchmarking him against Everton, then that's it. Doing well at Bournemouth is just that.

I understand the reservations. However:

spent £390M

sold £230M

net spend of £160M over 3 seasons.

Moyes had a net spend in just one summer window of £95M

Also, look at the progression under Iraola:

season one 12th
season two 9th
season three (so far) 6th

Bit harsh. He lost pretty much his entire defence in the summer and is looking odds on for European qualification despite that. He's supported by a very professional operation at Bournemouth, a bit like Frank at Brentford last season, so my worry about him would be walking into something that is, ahem, a bit less professional with us but he's done a good job this season under sub-optimal circumstances. Their wage bill is very similar to ours too, so having them ahead of us, even by 4 points, isn't bad at all. Their five year net-spend is about £100m more than us, that's fair comment, but that equates to about £20m a year, it's not huge but it is more. I also much prefer the way he sets up his team, so I would have him ahead of Moyes, personally.

Wont blag I know the ins and outs of him, or Bournemouth.

For me, he's spent a fair bit there -I recall when we played Bournemouth last season or the season before - when we played them - having 2 players who cost more than Everton's entire matchday squad.

I suspect some big sales brought down the net spend?

Maybe he'll be a good manager, but a 37% win rate at Bournemouth. I'd rather Glasner.

On managers - It'll be interesting to see how Fabregas does.

Why does it matter how many points he got in 2024 with a team that was in its 2nd season back in the league at the time? He’s currently got Bournemouth 6th while Dyche sits on his arse chatting about curry to Jim White. I’d have him here personally.

The point was he's been hyped for a while, and if we compare what he delivered each season vs Everton, it's not much uplift. To reaffirm that point - he didn't earn more points than our chaotic season with Dyche, and even now, he has 4 points on us.

You think Iraola is a better manager than Moyes?

Fair enough - I'm unsure on that.

He has the potential to be much, much better than Moyes yes. And he already is much, much better than Dyche

I think Iraola is a better manager,

I would rather have 4 more points and watching us play like Bournemouth than play the way we do with less points.
Also think we can attract a good level of player here over Bournemouth which then gives Iraola a better squad to work with, if he was here.

Right now nobody knows what Iraolas ceiling is but we all know whats Moyes is.

Very surprised he is going to Palace many thought he could get a far bigger job than that.

Not been following the news today so first ive heard of the palace link. I'd be shocked if he left bournemouth for palace. I mean why lol.
One of the more interesting managers and fully agree nobody knows yet what he has. He's not yet managed a club where the spotlight is on him if he doesnt deliver. I thought ge was leaving bournemouth to go athletic club tbh.

Instead of getting Iraola, why don't we just go and nab their entire scouting department? There's no way they'd turn down the offer of a huge pay rise at Everton.

Their pay structure is actually pretty similar to ours. I was shocked when I looked that up but it seems to be true. Their wage bill (playing and non-playing) is very close to ours. Money alone won't poach them.
