You do know if Grealish and KDH wanted to sit on the bench and get paid by City and Chelsea they could have right?

If only we could have snapped our fingers and sold Gbamin, Mina, Tosun, Gomes etc because we wanted rid……the context was about being able attract or retain players from those clubs when they pay more, but because you’ve decided my first comment was a slight against Glorious Leader (which it wasn’t) you’ve got yourself all frothy and excited.

Except they weren't even getting on those benches.

Grealish played 721 minutes in the league last year.

KDH played 264 minutes in the league last year.

It's a big difference between taking these players and trying to argue we can compete against City and Chelsea.

I like to think that some players exist that see Everton as a route to (almost) guaranteed starting roles, increased international team chances and enjoying their profession, over more money elsewhere and non of the aforementioned.

Of course we can’t compete for the absolute tier 1 starters at those clubs, but that wasn’t the point. The fact that those clubs have 2 or 3 top draw players for every position gives us every chance of competing for their services, if those 2nd / 3rd choice players have anything about them beyond being a mercenary imo.

Let's wait until end of the season before we talk about Moyes being a candidate for manager of the year. Dyche was sinking us and it would have been difficult not to have improved on what he had the players doing.

I find it a bit depressing that getting Everton to 8th is generating talk of Manager of the Season if I’m being honest, it feels condescending and small time to me but hey ho.

As for not being able to attract players over Chelsea or City, we have 2 example’s in Grealish and KDH that counter that. There most certainly are some players who will take the money to sit on the bench in a team bloated with superstars, but clearly not all player have the same mindset. And to be honest I wouldn’t want the others anywhere near Everton.

We should add Pickford to that as he has been courted by other teams offering more money & Europe.

You say crap like this, but you look at Frank sinking Spurs this season and Ange before him and their replacement has been even worse, you look at Forest and how Dyche failed to stop the rot also, so perhaps maybe give Davey a bit of credit before your usual crap? Maybe it's not as easy as it looks.

Fighting for Europe is a massive improvement on the last few years.

My original point which has been twisted was that our current best players wouldnt ask to leave for other premier league top 6 teams other than City & Arsenal.

RS = Unlikely
Spurs = Not top 6
Chelsea = Not a football team
United = Turbulence with a lot to improve

Times have changed even over the past 3 or 4 seasons where our competitors are now at a crossroads.

We certainly shouldnt be concerned about top players asking to be moved on if we can sneak into europe.

Just reiterated there that Europe is/was key to signing many better players. Bit of a Catch-22 there.

Moyes should be honest - did Xhaka sign for Sunderland because they had European games to offer?

It's about wanting to play in a team they can see themselves playing in. We look like a team that create few chances and play a very hard working, hard running behind the ball style. That's off putting to many players.
