2024/25 David Moyes

I know. Fair points too. Howver I was factoring all that in when saying Dyche would have had us safe.

The other clubs were so rank we could practically have carried on getting more draws which we were still well capable of and survived with ease.

That's the reality of it.
Dave.
It certainly has been a strange season for sure, the three relegated clubs basically collapsed after January but you could not be anywhere near certain that was going to happen when we changed manager. At that time our form was probably the worst of the clubs facing relegation, apart from Southampton(who got one of their very few wins against us).
Who could have seen Utd and Spurs finish below us ?

However, in January , the risk of going into season 25/26 in BMD as a Championship club was very real. The owners would have been negligent in not acting to ensure that wouldn't happen.

We had seen it with previous managers, Marco Silva, Martinez , Lampard where the team goes into a tailspin and it is difficult to turn things around, moreso when these is no money to spend. I think that is what happened to SD.
I thought SD was really good in season 23/24 and in the previous hAlf season after replacing FL.

It’s the mentality at the big stadiums that I’m looking out for. St James’s Park, City ground, the Amex have been more difficult grounds to play at this season than old Trafford or Spurs. I want to see us perform at the same level at some of these grounds as we can do at non top 6 teams. I can’t have another few years of complete non performances at Anfield Old Trafford Emirates Stamford Bridg just because the players see the name Liverpool Arsenal United or Chelsea.

Moyes is very deferential at those grounds. IMO he pencils in an 'acceptable' defeat at them knowing he's not going to get too much stick.

I think the players acted by indictaing to the manager they were struggling mentally to cope with the pressure for another season of the enormous tak of keeping us up, which is fair enough I suppose.

If the players had felt differntly then we'd have escaped quickly under Dyche too, IMO.

It was a collective loss of nerve.

You are like the Spin Fairy...

48 points is a very good effort when you consider the state we were in first half of the season. Top half finish should be the target for next season.
Just checked. We might be level on points (w/o the deductions) but we've improved the GD (scoring slightly more and conceding 7 less).

Last time he as here he was more conservative because he was always trying to prove to SAF/United that he was a manager who wouldn't have his teams routed. It happened once or twice but Moyes kept us defensively solid, but also underlined he could build a team that could attack.

He has no such considerations/ambitions this time around, so I can see a lot more adventurism in our play. That's a strong possibility, I suppose.

Needs to do that more consistently though. And it's ok doing that - as he has so far - when clear of danger with no Euro place available than it is with bigger expectations at the start of a new season.
To be fair, he had to get us clear of danger first, which he did in his first few games

Why did they stop struggling to cope with it as soon as Moyes came in then?

He's the right man for the job. We've got to stop thinking the grass is always greener, jeez you think some people would have learned by now. You should never, ever sack a manager because you think the grass might be greener. The correct way to go about things is to only sack a manager if it's starting to look like they're going backwards, until that point, you have to back him, or it just leads to instability because it's dangerous and naive to just expect that a replacement will defo do better and not be out on their ear before 12 months is up.

Anyway, fantastic job gaffer. Earned enough points just on his own to survive relegation this season. It's clear the players are playing for him, so as always, I'll wait until that looks like it's not the case before demanding change for change sake.

Dave you really should leave this alone.
I was one of the ones happy Moyes left...for the reasons you mention.
(Fear of the 'top' clubs away and all that knife to a gunfight bollox.)
But come on ! You gotta admit Dyche was Moyes Lite at very best !
He tended to approach every game defending a 0-0. !!!
Neither is my ideal manager but I know which one's better 100%.
Just qualifying for Europe wasn't enough for me .... but I'll tell you what, I've missed it since.

It's obvious - and I've said on here - that Moyes has done a good job. It's whether that continues or whether in a new season with more expectations on him he decides to manage those expectations.

Already we've seen how he can lose the plot in certain matches.

All along I've stated that if he's here next season I wont be bothered. He's a safe pair of hands in a new stadium...and we need that. But if he's replaced I wont be too bothered either, because there's plenty of nmanagers who can do better.

Stick or twist really. To twist has an element of danger to it, for sure.
It's alright, David. You know what?

He`s an off the books adviser for Trump.
If that were true mate, with Davie's skills, Trump would have him on a 6-monthly figure salary.
