2024/25 David Moyes

Day after im even more impressed given certain factors. After an exhausting derby. And looked at the injury list yest. There were 10 players that could have been possible selection candidates not available.
There were 4 players on the bench who's total appearences for Everton are 3(all dixon)
That was a fantastic 3 points yest. 👏

Is n`t that the excuse Spuds are using to explain their not so lofty position among the PL paupers?

I like Arteta as a manager. He has his flaws like most, but he made Arsenal more of a consistent challenger to the title than Wenger did up until about 2006. I do however think he’s on borrowed time there. If he doesn’t win an another trophy within the next year I can see them parting company with him. I could see him managing us after that.
He’s arrogant. Doesn’t win trophies and wouldn’t know a striker if it landed on his Lego head.

Oh Moyes for a couple of years to get us going through right way then arteta coming in would be almost the ideal scenario - Moyes going upstairs at that moment.

Really rate Arteta and arsenal are absolute idiots if they

Is that despite winning trophies? 😂

He won the FA cup the season he came in, then dismantled that squad and I think since then he’s won a charity shield or something.

Spending the money they do they ought to be doing more, horribly enough Slot coming in straight away and having the RS up there kind of shows his whole process thing is [Poor language removed]. He’s had the time and money to buy whatever he wanted but I don’t think Arteta has the ability to identify talent that Moyes does, he's the one buying Havertz and Jesus as their strikers, he seems obsessed with buying players and playing them out of position.

Honestly think he’s a poor manager, despite their league position, that’s come mainly from the big spending.

We have our Everton back!
I was born in 85 so have some memories of big Joe managing us and Walter Smith. But really I’ve seen the best football played under Moyes and seen some great football played. I really wish he was given the Moshiri money, who knows where we’d be now. Anyway I’m just glad he’s back and he’s in charge of our spending in the coming years until a Baines, Carsley, Coleman take over head coach.
Happy to checking the table for who we can climb above instead of looking down for a change!

If Liverpool had the injuries Arsenal have this season the roles would probably have been reversed. Imagine Liverpool for any length of time without Salah be missing both first choice fullbacks? Whilst Arsenal had a full strength squad all season?

I still think Arsenal are the best team in the league this season but Liverpool have had good fortune with injuries, some extremely favourable refereeing, some extremely lucky moments and a huge injury list for Arsenal. The gap should be a lot closer in my view, maybe it will be by the end of the season. There was nothing in that derby match to suggest Liverpool are anything close to some of the teams they’ve had under Klopp and even Benitez before that.

There was a moment during the live tv coverage yesterday when the camera cut to Moyes deep in conversation with Leighton Baines. It felt more Everton than Dyche and Woan and Stone scratching their heads.
We've gone from 1 to the other

There are those who feel bringing back Moyes was a return to the Kenwright "plucky little Everton" era, but for me (maybe blessed with a little hindsight), that's not the case.
For one, Moyes was hired the first time on Walter Smith's recommendation. Kenwright wanted Megson, if memory serves.
Two, Moyes had no money to spend, realistically, and to field teams that were predominantly defence-first. We did play some nice football at times, but it was the exception, not the rule. I think that's where his "knife to a gunfight" mentality came from, knowing he was financially overmatched. This time, I feel, will be different under owners who have a vastly superior financial wherewithal (provided they use it l).
Third, while I didn't appreciate the way Moyes left us and tried to poach Fellaini and Baines on the cheap, I think his stints at United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham have to have been learning experiences even if they weren't all that successful. He seems more flexible tactically and in terms of personnel (actually playing O'Brien and playing to Beto's strengths are two examples). I understand the overall quality and health of the squad have had a major influence on that, but it would be interesting to see him work with a fully fit and more skillful squad.
Is he the right man to be at the helm when we move to BMD? In my mind, absolutely. Will he be the man to lead us back to glory? Without the millstone that was Kenwright, he just might be.

Are Arsenals injuries actually worse than anyone else’s? White being injured is unfortunate but they bought Calafiori who was already known to be injury prone and then have a shocked Pikachu face when he gets injured - they actually have about 4 players there who are decent enough at left back, they just choose to moan about it and play a kid that’s a midfielder instead. They brought in Sterling rather than decent cover for Saka.

Their problems mainly come from their own terrible squad building, not injuries.

They’ve lot Jesus Havertz Saka Timber White Odegaard all to long term injuries this season. They’ve now also lost Martinelli. Liverpool have had Jota out for a handful of games, that’s it.
