2024/25 David Moyes

I think he's definitely an improvement. He's better than Dyche, Allardyce and Lampard.

But like you, I'd hoped we were closer to trying to kick on. We knew Dyche was gone in a few months and if fans are honest, if they were told David Moyes would be leading us into Bramley Moore they'd have been disappointed.

If we got to the summer, would people be saying get Moyes? If so, sound. I wouldn't have been.
Absolutely not for me, but we are where we are.

Can we all just agree to disagree and agree on that.

And don't worry, your still disagreeing with the agree crowd if you just agree to disagree with the agree crowd and the agree crowd agree to disagree with the disagree crowd.

There's far too much disagreeing going on which is why I'd like us all to agree to disagree and agree that's agreeable to those that want to agree and those that want to disagree

Moyes in!
Moyes Out!
Agreed.

Past caring, BFS and the piss goblin, Piggy Smalls, Dyche, just another in along line of safety first appointments, a club that for 30 odd years has had no vision, no ambition and are happy to be the new Coventry, good luck to Moyes but it doesn't give much hope of a successful future
This post is bang on with where I'm at today.

It's killed off the optimism I had for the new era already.

Yeh but two of them (Ipswich and Wolves) are looking like they want to really fight for it. We can only match them if we can confidently get a few results.

Would hiring Fonseca have given you more confidence in survival than Moyes?

You have said all along that surival is all that matters this year.
I might be downplaying our situation but I honestly think any semi-competent manager keeps us up this year. It’s the +2 years afterwards for Moyes that’s the killer.

Say my suspicion is correct and we were just THAT crap because of Dyche, then we’re not in a position post-May that we actually need the proverbial safe pair of hands but we’re stuck with him.

Had we only given him 6 months on the above basis, though, it would have been a crap call because there’s not a lot of incentive for anyone else at the club to really start building for our future with such a short term manager in place.

The only way Moyes makes sense is if we’re kind of resigning ourselves to mediocrity being our ceiling for the next couple of years, then we can worry about being exciting and progressive from 2027.

All a bit of a slap in the chops, really.

Again, though, he’s here now and it’s transfer time so let’s hope we can make a good start to Project Survival and not have squeaky bums come May.

Correct, and we will be where we will be in the summer.
We may not have been in the premier league come the summer, so the change, I feel, was a necessary one.

I’d have loved nothing more than to get to the summer safely and rip it all up and start again, but the trajectory we’re on compared to some of the teams around us and Dyche seemingly giving up threw all that out of the window.

Welcome back, Davey-Boy! It's been a while. How you been?

Anyway folks, a decision has been made - and what's the use of moaning whether you were in "Camp Dyche" or "Camp Anybody Else" (and seriously what were the options?)

This team is still in deep, deep doodoo so time to get behind the manager and players and see the last season at Goodison out as anything other than an historical embarrassment...

This year.

But we've got to kick on from the summer - the manager is vital to that as we look to recruit half a squad.

We should have sacked Dyche after Doucoure's Bournemouth. We couldn't because ownership/PSR.

We should sack Moyes after the end of this season - 90% of us wouldn't have wanted him in the summer/going into Bramley Moore. And for good reason.

I dont really care how he does - as long as we stay up. My opinion on the man has been well formed from 20+ years.

So if all you care about is survival, and you know we have a great chance under him, why are you so bothered? You're literally going against your own wants for this season. Just because he's signed 2.5 years doesn't mean there aren't break clauses or that he won't be gone in a year.

He might have a survival bonus + break clause in there, no one knows.

I think we will Jake.

I suspect we do a bit of wheeling and dealing in the summer and people will claim its due to those signings.

But Moyes is night and day to the T-rex.
That's the thing though. Did you want Moyes building a team with our first transfer budget in ages????

Half this team is out of contract as we all know. Do you think Moyes is the type of charmer for the modern day egos that would be helpful on getting them to sign new contracts at favourable terms?

He will sign some players and put his stamp on this squad with 2 and a half years. It's not something that excites me and screams of yet another stop gap solution that's kept us in these relegation spots for years now
