Yeh but two of them (Ipswich and Wolves) are looking like they want to really fight for it. We can only match them if we can confidently get a few results.
Would hiring Fonseca have given you more confidence in survival than Moyes?
You have said all along that surival is all that matters this year.
I might be downplaying our situation but I honestly think any semi-competent manager keeps us up this year. It’s the +2 years afterwards for
Moyes that’s the killer.
Say my suspicion is correct and we were just THAT crap because of Dyche, then we’re not in a position post-May that we actually need the proverbial safe pair of hands but we’re stuck with him.
Had we only given him 6 months on the above basis, though, it would have been a crap call because there’s not a lot of incentive for anyone else at the club to really start building for our future with such a short term manager in place.
The only way
Moyes makes sense is if we’re kind of resigning ourselves to mediocrity being our ceiling for the next couple of years, then we can worry about being exciting and progressive from 2027.
All a bit of a slap in the chops, really.
Again, though, he’s here now and it’s transfer time so let’s hope we can make a good start to Project Survival and not have squeaky bums come May.
