2024/25 David Moyes

Maybe he figured out that club's with elite players are basket cases that hire and fire on a whim after a season or so and he wanted the time and scope to roll out his ideas with very good players. That's why he made Belgium the number one ranked team in international football for 3 years and became their most successful manager ever, and how he took Portugal to their second greatest triumph in their history.

Hopefully Roberto gets a crack at another top international team - maybe Spain in the near future.

Or he`s just not a very good club manager and international footy suits the way he wants teams to play ad hoc footy 🤷‍♀️

International management is more about man management than coaching as the managers get so little time with the players and the players are already tactically prepared from their club sides. It's no coincidence that Martinez has done better in International management for those reasons stated plus you only have to see his time at Everton that when he has time to get his ideas across the cracks appear in his tactical system

There's also less day to day contact for them to twig the bull and pseudo-psychology he uses.

Like spurned lover, honest to god. I bet he has a framed photo at the end of his bed he has a blood drawn pentagram with candles to, chanting “Bobby Bobby, are you there Bobby?!”.
A sudden breeze blows the curtains inward... the candles are extinguished... then and a soft, Iberian voice whispers four simple words...

"No. I'm in Portugal."

Steve McClaren won a domestic cup and won a title in Europe. Also failed big time with an absolutely stacked international side.

Maybe he’ll get another go.
