2024/25 David Moyes

The plain and basic fact is that our squad is very poor. Look at the subs available yesterday. I often wonder how many of our squad would get a game with other premier teams let alone the top 6 . I think the answer is Pickford, Branthwaite, maybe O'Brien and Tarky and then I stop counting. Moyes has one heck of a job to get us into top 10 never mind top 6.
It’s better than last season and yet we are probably going to finish lower down the league (probably 17th), on less points than we did last season.

There is absolutely nothing to suggest things will be better next season.

If we make 12th place next season I'll be pleasantly surprised

De Rossi got a 3 year contract last summer.

He started the season with 3 draws and a defeat. He got sacked.

His replacement got 12 games and then got sacked.

Moyes was brought in last minute as a stop gap.

Why are the Friedkins going to change tact and support a manager they really didn't want.
But to be fair Roma should be in Europe next season.

These games are all dead rubbers now with Moyes doing the job required of him so quickly so I doubt the Friedkins will care that much apart from the extra prize money.

We have had too many draws but the only teams we’ve lost to since Moyes joined are Villa, Bournemouth, Liverpool, City and Chelsea. With this squad as it is, it’s not bad going. Moyes won’t be going anywhere at the end of the season.

Apart from new owners who seem to want to back us, new stadium, removal of previous toxic board, new board members and investors and a yet to be seen summer rebuild.

Apart from that business as usual.

Let's face it Moyes isn't going to do anything more than stabilise us over the next year or so which after the last few seasons I'm ok with. However for longer term success we will need to get more ambitious than just surviving which is all Moyes will give us. I expect he will get another 12 months or so in the role and then get moved upstairs.
Moyes will do what's best for himself first and Everton second, look at how he refused to sign his contract before leaving for Man U.
The idea that he will go on to have supervision over the direction of football at this club makes me feel sick.

And we were 1 point ahead of them … meaning we were performing as they had been …

Meaning we would probably have earned around 5 points since Moyes took over

Dress it up however you want but we were not “ safe” far from it .. if we were safe then why change manger?

Insane comment.

He had a great start, but as others have said, the results have started to revert back to the mean.

You can't have great expectations of this group, but I am disappointed that Moyes has not been able to get just a little bit more from them at the same time, allowing for the circumstances.

It's a hard line to draw, between what's achievable and realistic, but you look for more, just a little more. There is a cosiness to Moyes at Everton, and that's a limiting factor particularly so when any fear of relegation was banished months ago.

I don't think there will be any change, and it would be massively dispuptive to do it now. He knows that too, and he feeds off the media narrative that doesn't ask much of him, or of the club.

Either way, if money is spent and there is the same trend, then he won't last long anyway. We've got to hope that TFG are ambitious enough in the summer and that Moyes is smart with the cash.

I'm not judging him at all for anything this season. He was brought in to keep us up and he's done it. Next season I'll expect more, much more. Our home win ratio is an utter disgrace and the way we play is like watching the grass grow. Boring, tedious and repetitive. I wouldn't accept this under Dyche and I won't accept it under Moyes. If its still like this next season at the new place, I won't be happy.

I can't blame the manager much as some of our players are braindead/not good enough but the amount of draws is not good. I am hoping its because he needs his own team we need to be ruthless. The home form overàll has been atrocious for years now
