2024/25 David Moyes

Moyes still played boring football with his best teams. Yes they were functional and it worked more often than not but the argument was always that it was boring. No doubt he’s a good manager but he’s got a ceiling. At the end of the day and especially the way football is these days, as in it’s a bit of a closed shop, I just want to be entertained. I want to see attractive attacking football and where we end up is in the lap of the gods. But I want to be entertained.

His best teams weren’t boring. The football between Pienaar Baines Osman Arteta Cahill was arguably the best in our prem history.

You don’t want to be entertained, you just want to win, we all do. People are talking about boring football in the same discussion about throwing away 2 and 3 goals leads. Nothing boring about Everton 2- Bournemouth 3, or Villa 3- Everton 2, or Everton 2- United 2, or Everton 2 Liverpool 2, or Everton 2, Ipswich 2.

You don’t want entertainment, you want to win. If we won 38 games 1-0 you wouldn’t have a single complaint about the football. No fan would. People would start complaining after 2 games though if we had two 4-4 draws.

Fans want results not entertainment.

1st half we were quite comfortable.

Alcaraz & Ndiaye combining well and Beto charging around like a loon. McNeil getting back to speed but not used to the rhythm of an Alcaraz as they clearly have had limited time together.

Midfield and defence seemed fine and we gradually took control of the game.

Wondergoal and 2-1 at the break.

We then swapped Ndiaye out to the left and Alcaraz inside. I thought this left Ndiaye less effective and he seemed to have 2 players on him, but Alcaraz was everywhere centrally.

McNeil tired and i felt Gana and Garner had been told to not to lose the game rather than take chances to win.

The triple sub by McKenna and DCL + Harrison on...first the tide immediately turned and second we removed 2 threatening players for zero.

Chermiti given a token few mins for our door unlocker and patterson our crossing threat off for a more defensive player.

Smacked of Moyes telling them to hold on.

We were the underdog in his eyes vs a relegated team.

Just like were an underdog to sign that relegated teams forward.

If you go through managers like we have since his first tenure you’re gonna end up with dross and we did.

This squad needs stability, rebuilding, quality additions, and then handing over to the next manager in better shape than this.

Moyes is ideal for that at this very moment.
I mean other than the honeymoon period at the start of his tenure it has been utter garbage and plenty of that can fall on Moyes. When it is still crap next season you can’t say you weren’t warned or that it is a surprise.

Personally I’d like to see TFG clear house and actually appoint a manager who fits with their long term ambition for the club.

If that is upper bottom half finishes every year then by all means keep Moyes and let him sign Harrison and Soucek. Personally I hope they have more ambition.

What happens when we lose a few and fans start getting a bit toxic?

Longing for the moment to have better options to bring from the bench no matter the manager.

Keane, Coleman, Young, DCL, Harrison, Chermiti, Tim, Broja.

Most of them are not even prem level or not anymore.

Why are you some of willing with all your might Everton to get beat in their last ever game at Goodison? So you can come on here and manipulate that angst and the cocaine into a slaughter fest resulting in at least three bannings? You people make me sick.

Not Moyes fault. It’s as much Moyes fault as it was Dyches. We’ve struggled against crap teams at home since the end of Carlos reign. Am like a broken clock saying it

The mentality of the club still needs to change on the playing field. 2-0 up early in a game - stick the ******* knife in and finish the opposition. It's on Moyes as much as a good manager he is, he isn't ruthless enough in these situations, and often the thing he's afraid of happens because we invite it. I'd prefer Martinez trying to batter teams than suffer this nick a result thinking.
