2024/25 David Moyes

Convinced some people just can’t look past him leaving us for United 12 years ago to be honest. He’s come in, instantly improved results, got us playing much better football and had us safe by March. Anyone moaning is just moaning for moaning’s sake, in my opinion.

Or a couple of posters have an agenda, that they`re carrying on from his first stint as manager ?

Some of the lengths people go to discredit Moyes in here and try to make him seem like an average manager are ridiculous.

Lies about him getting to spend money and bring in players in in January (when it was 1 singular player).
Suggesting a home draw to Arsenal is an average result. You know, the Arsenal team that have only lost twice away from home all season and just beat Real Madrid 3 nil.

We would be sixth in the table if it was just since Moyes came in. And that’s with this supposedly relegation standard team.

Honestly, people need to get some realism.

A lot of it is to do with them being made to look like prize bellends over their almost cult like support for Dyche mate.

No matter who came in next, he was never going to be accepted by them, Moyes just made an easier target that`s all.

Plus the head anti Moyes cheerleader has always had it in for him and we all know he never lets go of his agendas.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to dislike the way he left. I didn't begrudge him the chance to move on to better things, but the secrecy and the pictures of him skipping away from Bill's office didn't reflect very well on him.

I don't think he is back for the long haul, but I have been pleasantly surprised at the impact he has had so far with such a limited squad.

It's done and dusted.

Moyes sounds like Hitler promising to wear the same tunic until the war is won.

He needs to come out of his bunker and get down that stadium. Itls a real slap in the face to all blues unable as yet to get into it.

I think this is the day the last bit of respect I had went.

….careful, I’m one of the ones who appreciate Dyche for what he did but I can 100% see the improvement under Moyes, indeed he’s put is where I hoped Dyche would.

It’s difficult to categorise those who seem contrary to him, suspect with new owners some wanted to see a new, young high-profile coach but the situation dictated safety and stability and he’s certainly doing that. I also suspect Moyes was consulted about Thelwell and some are sore he’s being shown the door.

Were we set up at any point in that time to win trophies? Genuinely?

What was our transfer outlay v the top 4? Even vs Spurs Newcastle Villa. Players were choosing Birmingham and Charlton ahead of us at times because they were offering bigger fees and paying more.

The teams you’ve listed are now all in lower leagues and some of them went into administration. They won an isolated trophy each, and the fact they did whilst bigger spending teams like Newcastle Villa Spurs didn’t (2008 league cup aside) just shows that they were one off events and not the result of being set up to win trophies. Arguably we had our one off event in 95.

Structurally we’ve not been set up to win trophies since the start of the PL era.
To be honest I agree, Moyes did pretty well considering resources he had, other teams most notably Spurs spent far money than us and only won a league cup. When we got to final in 09, we beat RS, Villa and United. When we played in final against Chelsea, we were missing Arteta, Yakubu, Jags and a certain other players.

That’s the issue though we’re looking for an Everton manager to pull of four or five consecutive games of beating better teams to win a trophy, then when they don’t we berate them for the one time they didn’t beat a top team with half of their first team missing.

Look at some of United’s recent trophy wins. Blunder through some poor teams and then you might only have to beat one or two good teams to win it.

We need to raise the quality of the team to that level that gives us a chance of having a run at a trophy every season rather than needing a once in a generation miracle to get to a final.

I mean some of them are just blatantly wumming and not even attempting to hide it but as long as people fall into the trap of constantly giving them attention it will carry on.

I know Moyes was given a decent amount of money at West Ham, but they became a consistent top half team under him with a trophy. Before they were a team that was bottom half. As Everton fans we know what we did when Moshiri came in with money, we came a relegation candidate from a top half team in the 2010s.

It's funny that some of them are the same people that rate Graham Potter more (who imo needs to show deeds at West Ham next season to justify his reputation) more or said under Dyche that we are just good enough to survive.

It's so important what they do with the money more than how much they spend of it, Moshiri is living proof of that. Apart from Ancelotti, the only decent manager he chose was Silva and I thought at the time he pulled the trigger on him much too soon.
