2024/25 David Moyes

There's no contradiction.

The bottom line is this stats mean nothing compared to what my eyes are telling me, and one thing for certain Everton are a different watch under Moyes compared to Dyche & Benitez.

Sat for Example I always knew we were in that game, under Dyche we would of been out of sight, also the atmosphere is different, it's more pleasurable now to go the game, under the other 2 clowns it was a chore

Can you do a table with just the last 13 games with Dyche & Fat Benitez? Would be a better comparison.
Why? Moyes only got a decent start because of Dyche’s well-drilled defence and midfield, and the board let him spend some money.

Yes, Dyche got a bit obsessed with defending, but only because that was something in his power to control.
You seemed to forget just about all of our progressive players we injured, and we’d had a couple of seasons of selling anyone who was wanted by other teams and not replacing them. Moyes comes in and suddenly there are loans coming in and money being spent.

Moyes would be nowhere near this “successful” if he had to deal with the negative resources Dyche had to see his way through.

I’ll just leave this here.

This isn't the best comparison... Moyes' 13 games is a small sample size, especially compared to Dyches' 84 games (>6x as many).

Also, there are less tangible things that can't be accounted for in a win % stat. We simply look 'better' under Moyes than we did under Dyche. We're better coached, we're more competitive and we score more goals (we've scored >50% of our league goals this season under Moyes in <40% of our games).

….i’m really surprised Moyes has so many detractors, there’s bound to be difficult spells ahead and he might not get much leeway.

For me, he’s done what I hoped Dyche would do. He’s managed to give the team more threat whilst still making us hard to beat despite the obvious lack of quality in the squad. Now it’ll be down to whether he can continue the progression and that will surely be down to comings and goings in the summer.

I think his report card to this point has to be very, very good but it seems he has little security in the bank with many supporters. I’m just chuffed we’ve been able to chill as early as March this season and whilst the PL title has an inevitability about it, at least there won’t be red flags out of windows for the Champions League final.

Thanks Moyes, a terrific appointment in the short-term & here’s hoping you keep up the good work :pint2:

Correct, we shall just have to wait until the benefits of his honeymoon period and Dyche’s duck-bottom tight defence have disappeared. Then we can judge his record.

Moyes is primarily here now for expectation management.

There wont be much to spend again and he'll sell it for TFG...just like he did for Kenwright for years.

That expectation management and the usual deference he shows when playing 'big clubs' are what fuels the opposition of his many detractors.

….time will tell but there’ll have to be plenty of transfer activity this summer so the spend envelope will have to be spread. It’s going to be a real challenge.

What money did Moyes get to spend? You mention “loans”, he got 1 loan I’m aware of, who else did he get?

You talk about Dyche having injuries to our progressive players, yet he had Ndiaye and DCL available whilst also ignoring Beto and lindstrom. Moyes hasn’t had ndiaye or DCL for the majority. Yet also lost Mangala and is only just getting McNeil and broja back etc

Completely agree . And if cash is going to be tight going forward he is the right man for the job to see a gradual evolution of personnel and playing style .

If we were able to spend massively on a rebuild this summer and beyond I might think differently but for now Moyes is the right guy to have in charge.
