2024/25 David Moyes

To be fair to Moyes, he’s not working with the most talented group of players (the squad needs some serious investment) however a good manager implements a system that gets the best out of the players at his disposal. Amorim take notice. The Friedkin group has not only saved the club from financial ruin but also from relegation with the appointment of Moyes. If I’m honest I was sceptical about his appointment - as in you should never go back, but he’s proved me wrong and I’m happy to admit that. The owners now need to allow Moyes to get the players in he wants in the Summer so we can hit the ground running in our new stadium.

Across a full season, would get us 82 points. Which is 2nd/3rd virtually every season since 2000 (and would have been enough to win the league 3 times).

But if you add some losses instead of the wins, it’s a pretty poor run really.
Remember we got 72 points which would have gotten us CL football most seasons up to then, and we finished 5th, Everton that.

People say that we never step in the same place twice in a river. So Moyes is never the same guy who left us. He has had his failures and successes in the time in-between. So onwards and upwards folks.

He was grown since leaving us, including tasting success. We're riding a wave at the moment, and of course there'll be bumps in the road, but we're in safe hands.

If he's here for the two years, the club will be left in a better position than when he took over for the TFG to build upon.

The thing for me is that it is more than the results. If Palace had scored a winner it would still have been a positive performance. The players, especially Beto, were not lying down and it would have just been one of things.

Under Dyche this season, no way would we have got that second goal (if we still got the first).

Dyche last season was brilliant under extremely difficult circumstances but this season, it just got worse and worse. It was like without the backdrop of the injustice and the feeling of being hard done by he just could not bring himself to be positive, and the players not only went into their shells but went in and double locked the doors.

As people have said there will be downs but as long as the intent is there then we know the next match we will still give it a go. 1 down with 10 to play and we know that the players will still be giving it a go. There are plans A, B & C.

I'll hold my hands up here. I was totally underwhelmed when we opted for Moyes. I still had a bad taste in my mouth about the way he left and then came, from one of the wealthiest clubs on the planet, to poach our better players at a low price, with full inside knowledge about how we desperately needed the cash. I was glad he did badly elsewhere, even though I recognise the work he did in his first 11 years at Everton. It was kama.

I was underwhelmed because I saw him as a dinosaur. But bloody hell, he's proved me an idiot since his return and I'm happy with that.
I think there is quite a few in that position, I wasn`t against Moyes because I knew he`d be an instant upgrade on Dyche and I was quite vocal that this squad was much better than it was showing under Dyche. You don`t need to be a footballing mastermind to see that but quite alot of our fans were believing the absolute drivel coming from Dyche which say more about his ability and not the ability of the players....

I heard it so many times... "No other manager could get a tune out of these players"... "Nothing will change until we get better players"... "Dyche is working with his hands ties behind his back"... "Moyes will be more of the same".... !

I`ll say Moyes was down my list of managers I would have liked the club to have gone for but you`ve got to say in hindsight TFG have got this right, realistically under Moyes we can have a shot at Europe next season with some decent additions. I don`t think anyone expected Moyes to have the impact he has but long may it continue.
