2024/25 David Moyes

I would far rather see Moyes get the players he wants than any DOF or recruitment committee. I trust him far more.

The DOF model has been a complete failure since it was introduced at Everton. So many players signed who didn't suit what the manager was trying to do. And so many seasons where the manager was not backed with the players they needed.

Because under Moshiri and with Bill floating like a unflushable turd we never ever really has one with authority, a meddling owner with a favourite agent, bill constantly stirring, recruiting based on individual managers wants, and stylistically changing manager types with no consistency.

If we let Moyes recruit and say in two seasons time he retires, so you think the next appointment would be similar in system and style to Moyes and do you think Moyes would be recruiting for a long term plan or just to maximise results whilst he was here?

Pretty clear the Friedkins aren't in the same league as the Arabs or Thaksin.

There hasn't been a single marquee moment since they took over. Not a single "wow". Moyes came back as manager - a very good short-term appointment that was uninspiring from the perspective of future orientation. That they kept him on was both telling and logical - but you've got to back him if you're keeping him on.

For those of us dreamers who thought they might bring in a big name, a la Mourinho, could you imagine the drama if Jose or someone of his ilk was overseeing this lack of transfer activity this summer? Then again, perhaps that explains why they were never truly in the market for a manager like that. They simply didn't have the ambition.

Moyes needs backing - big time - and pronto or there will be chaos come November.

Yeah what we needed was in our current state a manager to take over for two seasons that creates absolute chaos in every recent job. That'd sort us out 😂

Nobody said we needed that. I said somebody of that level.

As it is, Moyes won't last two years himself given the incompetence of these owners.

Don't see anything at all incompetent from these owners. They have systematically put in place professionals to do jobs at the club.

Incompetence has been the last 35 years of ownership

I think Moyes would target good players who will help now and in the future. That's what he always did.

What I dont want to see is players being signed for the manager who don't suit the way he wants to play.

Thought we moved away from football director role, and Moyes identifies players he wants and the transfer committee go and do the deal. Moyes has more or less implied in his after match interviews, that this transfer committee is falling short on siging other identified players.

A 38 year old Moyes recruitment ideas will massively differ from Moyes at his present age mate, that's bloody obvious, he's admitted pretty much this is not long term and it's likely his last managerial role, what on earth gives you confidence his primary aim will be to build for the future?

Why would he not want to sign players who will help the club over multiple years ?

So Tryer, Aznou, Alcaraz, Barry, Dibling if he arrives are all guys Moyes went go get me them to the committee.

Not a chance in hell mate, Moyes already threw one under the bus, and one other before he even trained with the team he's essentially said he won't be using for a good period of time.

Maybe I am, but anyone who says Moyes is calling the shots right now on recruitment is living in laa laa land.

The feller who is in charge of identifying targets has previously worked with Moyes for 10 years. If you watch the Diary of a CEO interview that Moyes did, then he says that it's mainly been scouts who have identified players for him over the years but he likes to work through them and pick out the ones he likes. I suspect he's comfortable working like that as long as he has some input and the final say from a list of targets.

I've got a gut feeling it's the negotiator who is perhaps not on the same page as him. Or perhaps policy from the owners/CEO. I don't think he will have a problem with the scout/recruitment guy (forget his name) presenting him with a list of targets, seeing as they've used the same MO together for 10 years in the past.

He's on gardening leave from city until September mate. He's not officially at the club.
