David Moyes - all reaction here

Here's what I find unpalatable: some (do correct me if I'm wrong, but it feels like more than a minority) would rather see Liverpool do well than Moyes.

Now, Moyes gave us 11 years of good service. Liverpool have given me nothing but aggro and bad memories. I don't understand this way of thinking.

Some real whoppers out there.

He gave us good (not great IMO) service, we gave him an unbelievable send off to thank him... then he [poor language removed] on us.

He deserves all he hatred that's coming his way.

And it's not like we held the Manc's in high esteem anyway.

Interesting one about keeping the Utd coaching staff - would have been the actions of a weak-minded man, looking for a hedge against things going wrong. As things have, in fact, gone very wrong, it would have turned out to be a very useful move. So sort of a paradox there for Moyes.

I suspect the reality is that he couldn't have kept the coaching staff - Meulensteen moving on to a (horrible) management stint and Phelan looking to do the same suggests they were both looking to evolve their careers. Phelan (apparently) was running the show as far as the Utd team went - no one with any self-belief is going to abdicate responsibility and retain a person like that. Vice verca, if Phelan has been having a huge say in training and squad selection for years, he's not going to be happy laying the cones out under a new regime.

Would have helped if Moyes' staff had a bit more stature in the game, like.

Just heard Moyes say it's the first time he's come up against Pep and he's expecting to go up against him plenty of time in the future.

You could almost imagine the journalists all turning around and looking at each other.

Haha I thought that too.

I was expecting to see the headline - Pep for West Brom this morning.
More likely that Moyes will be managing a mid table German side than the above I guess. He always said he would like to manage abroad so perhaps that is what Moyes was hinting at.

He's finished, firstly because the players didn't believe in him. The supporters have, for the most part, been hanging in there trying to hold their dignity but deep down they know he's not right for the job. Ultimately the owners are not going to back him up with the hundreds of millions required.

Everton was a mess when he arrived and he brought certain qualities which were required at the time. Discipline, structure, hard work (all a given at Utd). Ability to turn undervalued players into above average performers is not what Utd need. He's not what Everton need now either. He has no distinctive style of play and he has no vision as to how European Football is changing and what is needed to be at the forefront of that.

It's in the air, nobody believes in him anymore. The fact that Everton didn't fall apart and have actually improved has had most of the media in a quandary and they are now looking at him in a new light. He'll be praying that Chelsea win the title because If either City of Liverpool win it, he's toast.

I cannot see him lasting through the summer, but if they give him another season it's a massive mistake which could take them years to recover from. This could be to our benefit.

Reading stuff on the internets and it says United are interested in this İlkay Gündoğan fella, who has been out since August with a "back injury", never heard of the lid myself, but he does seem to have a strange injury record.

Looks a bargain at only 25m.
