He said it was a foul for their goal. He talks utter pish.
It was a foul for their goal.
[Poor language removed] me, so all you have to do to warrant a free kick is push the ball past your opponent then kick him in the foot as you go past him (while not really ever wanting to get past him). What total [Poor language removed]. The world's gone mad.Yep I thought it was as well. If you put your leg out like that and make no attempt to pull it back in the ref is going to give a free kick every time.

The sooner we raise the bar in terms of what constitutes a foul the better (though I won't hold my breath), then players would realise there's no point in going down under the slightest (or imagined) contact, and the game would be far better off for it. At the current rate it's soon going to be worthy of a foul for looking nastily at an opponent - though perhaps terraloon would agree with that too.

Maybe if they did then things would change but I wont hold my breath. There were many instances yesterday of minimal contact leading to a foul, indeed it happens in every game. The only real issue yesterday was it led to a goal.
Based on the current take on things that was a foul. If you stick your leg out and don't even attempt to draw it back its going to be given. If it had happened to a Everton player that's the view everyone on here would have taken
But if the outstretched leg is not at all impeding the path of the player why should it be a free kick? That was the case yesterday. Jagielka was in no way blocking the path of the cheat. His foot was hardly way out from his body. The fact is the cheat put his foot into Jagielka's. As Martinez said, they were doing that throughout the second half (the disgusting twist and dive by Torres trying to get Baines booked about 10 minutes before Ramires's cheating was even worse) and it is clearly a Mourinho ploy if things aren't going for them. It wins them points. It has been key to them preserving his 70+ unbeaten home games run.
You refer to 'the current take on things', but is it? I don't think it is, since players do get booked for doing it. The ref could have booked Ramires yesterday but was fooled. Not a foul. Not even under current implementation of the laws. It was cheating, pure and simple, and it saddens me that everyday fans have now come to accept it with just a shrug of the shoulders.
Agreed, all he had do was go with the run and push him wide, lazy tackle thatWhen I say current take on things I mean limited physical contact, years ago players went in with far more force and were allowed to do so.
Anyways back to the Jagielka foul, his leg was planted wide it was silly he didn't need to do it . Could Ramires have avoided it? The onus wasn't on him to hurdle to go wide or whatever if indeed he could. I know from an Everton perspective its easy to say it was a dive but irrespective the defending that followed was poor
