Davey's Response to last night

Fair enough mate. Just don't agree with "if we do badly again blah blah". There are too many "again" in my opinion, way past acceptable.

I dont think we'll be as bad as last night. I also dont think we'll be improving over our league performances in terms of putting games to bed anytime soon.

I am hoping for a better defensive and possession displays though. I dont expect anything creative or domineering though.

Back to the ugly Everton that grinds results for me.

You miss my point KB, I was responding to Dave in that we could be poorer in our play.

Ignoring last night look at games where we had less than an injury excuse, i.e. Wolves.

I think we have been consistently poor, the only exception is the quality of our opponent.
I hope ugly basic does not include hoofball

I dont think we've got much of a choice IMO. If the hoof is effective, use it.

Start whinging about passing the ball better when the players that can pass and move come back into action.

if proffessional footballers aren't able to play the passing game then oh dear. We play so well when we keep it on the deck aswell!

The reason we get whacked by teams like benfica and arsenal is they play quick passing football on the deck. we give the ball away that easy, they have that much posession they will score 4,5,6.

If we carry on playing hoof ball this will be a common result against good sides.(n)

I dont think its as easy as "just pass it" otherwise no team would hoof the ball and everyone would look like Barca.

Our only ball carrier from midfield is 18 year old Rodwell with no real width or creativity coming from the central or wide areas.

We can easily knock it around in a square and back to the defence. But actually getting it from defence to attack and creating something we cant do at the moment as it breaks down...

Which is when the hoof comes out.

I dont know why is hoofball considered basic when everyone in our team is most comfortable playing on the deck. Hoofball bypass whatever quality we had in midfield.

We've been done by the hoof twice in the past 7 days.

Its all about where the hoof goes. We tend to just **** and hope someone gets on the end of it.

Heitinga has got some great long distance ball delivery on him though.

Wait till stevie p and mikel come back we will be a different side altogether.
The one let down for me is fellaini he just seems to amble about.

Then why are we buying billy instead of crouch?
If we are undone by hoof then teach them to defend hoof.
If our strength is on the deck then we need to work the basic of passing and off the ball movement.
Why teach them the basic of something they are not good at.

Last night was a one-off IMO, and although benfica looked class at times and it was very painful for us to watch - I still think the game at Goodison a week on thursday will be a different matter.
I also fear much of the same at spurs on tuesday as it seems certain we will field a much weakend team and its probably/definately Ugly 'Arrys:@ most realistic way into Europe.
But if we lose 5-0 to Bolton on sunday then the alarm bells will start to ring for me (y)

We were outplayed against Pompey, lucky against Wolves and lethargic against Stoke.

We played against a very good side and we were exposed.

This is not bad luck, this is not just one of those things. This is:

1. Poor training methods (Steve Round anyone???)
2. Poor signings (Jo???)
3. Poor backing (late preparation again)
4. Poor loyalty (Osman, Jo)
5. Poor in-game tactics (Moyes)

And please nobody compare us to the fact that we could be a point behind Liverpool and a game in hand, we have been fortunate to be unbeaten in the games we were, our performances have been lethargic and basically supported by the manager.

I don't want him to go overboard and criticise everyone, but he needs to not heap praise when it's not warranted.

I talked about our training methods weeks ago, and got slated by a few lads, rightly or wrongly.

My first impression last night was one of disgust, and that many of our players didn't deserve to wear the shirt, because it looked like they couldn't be arsed once they were behind.

They were clueless in possession, pathetic in attack, and naive in defense.

Yakubu is a waste of space at the moment, and Jo isn't looking like he will make the grade. Our best player available in Saha was on the bench pulling his hair out.

Cahill is another waste of space so far this season, and needs to be dropped and told to buck his ideas up. The fact he had the arm band made it worse.

Moyes thinks he can throw players on where ever he sees fit, but he has his head up his ass this season and needs to pull it out real quick.
He bought players late, and yet again failed to get players in for pre-season.
His body language last night said ' help '.

We have injuries, but we also have many players which aren't being given the opportunity to have a go, so why buy them in the first place?

Arnoux was very highly rated in the states, so why has he not been given a try?

Mustafi and Duffy are both center backs, so why not give them a try?

Aggard, Baxter, Peterlin?

The way he is picking the team this year is naive and wishful thinking, and the way we are coaching and training the lads has to be brought into question, seeing as we are constantly getting injuries.

I was appalled last night, but then I calmed down, and now I'm very peaceful. :)

Roll on Bolton.
