mythbuster

Player Valuation: £35m
I always wondered why this blue legend was a youth coach at first wigan and then the barcodes.

Seeing as he worked under 'Bobby' for a couple of seasons, is it time to bring him home?

He was Wigan Youth Team Coach between 23 April 2008 and 7 November 2011.

Martinez joined Wigan in 2009, so they would have just entered their third season together when Waggy moved to the Barcodes.

He might be a popular character at Everton but the Wigan first-team squad has no academy products in it and Newcastle finished bottom of their U18 group.

Err, Mcmanaman?

Only been there as asst. For 2 years. Bit unfair to put the barcodes crap crop down to Waggy.

I'd love him back, especially if he has a good working relationship with 'Bobby.' A massive blue, who has worked with our manager in waiting - makes perfect sense to me.

McManaman was 18 when he joined them.

Joe Joyce is their Academy Manager so, you're right, it isn't necessarily a fair reflection. He doesn't seem to have lit the world of coaching up though and the only reason to bring him back would appear to be sentiment.

Yeah, fair enough. However I think it's fair to say he wasn't brought in as a senior.

I'm not suggesting he be made asst. manager or 1st team coach. I'd have no problem with him slotting in alongside Dunc, Stubbs, Weir and Irvine.

He's a proper football man and a proper blue. Doubt he' on massive wages.

Seen it all with us...top man, from all I've heard.

If we do get Martinez (ffs hurry up Bill) and he rated waggy and would like to work with him again then this would be a stroke of genius. Only worth doing if he is actually a good coach tho.
