Very disappointing & surprising that there has still not been any mention of this on the Sky Sports News bulletins (apart from an on-screen caption) and still nothing on the BBC website despite Phil McNulty tweeting about it several hours ago.

This man was a total legend, who played for all 3 Merseyside clubs.

I remember going on a Goodison tour as a kid. He showed us around the stadium. Such a lovely guy. He apologised because the reserve shirts were hanging up in the changing room (with just the numbers) but said that it reminded him of a time when shirt numbers meant more. Gave my hair a ruffle at the end and called me 'luv'.

Just arrived home and heard the sad news. RIP Dave Hickson, Everton has lost another of it's favourite sons in body, but in spirit you will live on as a legend forever.

Very sad news. A great man and great Evertonian. Will miss seeing him at Goodison. R.I.P. Dave.

I think this would be a really fitting tribute, also if we could do something like the Sir Tom Finney stand at Preston..

Sad sad news, a true gentleman who come off well when interviewed. Never got to meet the man but did see him walk with an aid past my coach after the semi final last April and was in total awe. R.I.P Mr Dave Hickson, you will be missed

Can't really say anything that hasn't been said already.

RIP to a great player, and an even better man whom it was always a pleasure to talk with. He will be missed greatly.
