Clearly his best position is on his back

There's a thing called a squad.
Hence contract extensions for Osman and Hibbert who actually when called on are able to contribute to the team and are long standing senior players within the dressing room.
As for Howard's extension, if you'd told me start of this season he was past it I and many others would have laughed at you.
I see Alcaraz and Kone as his slip ups. Kone was always going to be a gamble with his past history, although i can see the logic in signing a player that fits the style of play and has performed for you in the past.
Likewise Alcaraz has done ok as a 4th choice CB but has also let the team down in critical moments.
McGeady cost pennies.

Hugely significant window to see whether he can continue to bring in young players of the quality of Lukaku, Besic and Macca and build this promising young side.
Young wingers of quality needed.

McGeady is on 50 grand a week so did not cost pennies

Didn't bring Gibson, Distin, Pienaar or Howard here like...
Moyes left him an aging squad that needed fresh new blood brought in.
Its a process that is going to take some time.

First line is correct, but dont agree with the rest.

Moyes left an average aged squad with several young players, along with ageing players who have been here through 4 Martinez transfer windows.

An average aged squad to which Martinez added amongst others... Kone, Alkaraz and Etoo.

You mention Gibson, he is not old.. he's 27.. A lot younger than McGeady or Barry who Martinez also added for example.

Squad is not a reason, its an excuse, the reason our squad age is so high, is because 2 years later and with 5 or 6 older additions, we seem to accumulate oaps uder Martinez.

Let me clear something up. Currently of the players that we have aged less than 25 in our team, only John Stones and Luke Garbutt are players who have been signed by Moyes (and I'm being generous with Garbutt, he was basically brought through the academy).
However in contrast Martinez has brought in Robles, Besic, McCarthy, Lukaku and Galloway (albeit one for next year).
So for all that Martinez has brought in experienced players, he has also brought in fresh younger players forming a youthful core to replenish a clearly aging side.
And he's brought through and formed the team around Ross.
So I think he can quite clearly see that the team will drop off in the future and is bringing in younger faces to rebuild the squad as they say.

Robles,Oviedo,Lukaku,McCarthy,Besic, Barkley, Coleman and Stones are all under 26 years old.
Naismith, McGeady,Mirallas are in the mid to late twenties.
Baines and Jagielka have another three seasons each at the top level.
Every squad carries a few experienced players in their thirties.

Our squad is not badly balanced age-wise. When you think of players like Garbutt, Browning, Galloway, Ledson, Kenny and others besides who seem to be bubbling just under the current first team squad then there is no need for panic.

What is needed are replacements in targeted areas.
Centrehalf
Wide on the wing
creative central midfield
back up striker to cover Lukaku.

He's the most overrated everton player anyway, in his time here he has spent more time injured than on the pitch and when he does play he's decent at best. He wouldn't get near the starting lineup of any of the current top 6.

I put him Naismith, Osman, Mcgeady all in the same bracket... can be decent but are mostly bang average and none of them would get games in squads we are/were supposed to be challenging against (spurs, liverpool, arse etc).
