Gibson could play he just wouldn't play. Can't understand why Sunderland would buy him, they are in a fight, Gibson doesn't really look like someone who is going to put himself on the line. Unless that is the line for the bar. However very happy to see him go.
I really hope Oviedo goes on to have a good career there, he deserves it.

If fit, he will be Defoes supplier. Could work too.

..I know you are the resident devils advocate but moving Gibson on has got be good news. He's a supreme footballer when fit and firing but his injury record and off field antics result in him not being value for money. It's time for him to go.
Am I wrong to say that Gibson when fit was the superior of every CM we've had since Moyes bought him?

When fit. And sober.

Probably.

(Depends on who you see as CM mind).

Dont think anyone doubts his talent, just everything else.

...as said, when fit.

Arteta left and when Gibson had a good run of games we hardly missed the Spaniard. That speaks volumes.

£7.5m for Gibbo and Oviedo is good business, regardless of his potential Gibson never realised it fully with us or United.

...I don't think so, Dave. Just my opinion. A fine passer of a football but it's only a part of the complete midfielders game. His game was almost as a quarterback. I don't think he had the same all around quality of Barry even if we are not seeing the best of him. I don't think he had the ability to get about the pitch and break things up like Gueye.

No, he wouldn't be top of my list.

Good points, Eggs.

I tend to be a bit old fashioned and see a CM pairing in terms of a destroyer and a creator. In that set up a Gbson works. These days managers look for the belt and braces of two work horses. Cant stand that myself. Very negative.
