I think it was a case of Ireland playing them whilst not fully recovered, especially in McCarthy's case.

I cannot remember that but perhaps that may well be the case then. He was injury prone before he came to us though from what i recall so he proved to be a cheap gamble which didn't pay off for us.

Very talented player on the ball but an utter joke of a professional. Should have ripped his contract up when he was done for drink driving.

Regardless, glad to see the back of him. It's one thing being unlucky with injuries but he's brought a lot of it onto himself, at the club's expense.
