Rubbish. Ferguson never wanted scholes to retire, and if he hadnt, he would have played the majority of utds games this season. Scholes said hhimself last week that he rang ferguson about coming back. This isnt an argument about who is better, because you are comparing one of the best midfielders to ever play in the premier league to someone who,s career has stalled. Everyone would pick scholes over gibson regardless of age. This is about wether a fringe player at utd who is available for 1-2m can add something to our threadbare squad.

Some really silly arguments on here. Same people who bang on about the state of our club complain when we try and do something to improve our squad. If it stops us signing a striker i,ll fume myself but i dont belidt

He's not improving the squad...he's adding to it. There's a difference.

We need bodies, I get that argument. But to say he's good? Nah. Same with bringing McFadden back who hasnt played football for over a year when he turned up. He's just to cover the numbers and also a filler for when Rodwell/Fellaini/Barkley leave next season which will pay for - A striker. A winger. The bank.

As for the United thing...Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick all above him. Cleverly offers 10x Gibson does. Park, Giggs, and now Scholes. He's like 6th on the list. And not even that, effin Rafael has played in midfield over him...jesus.

He,s not improving the squad?

So gibson in midfield is not an improvement on neville, heitinga or cahill? ok then

this place is turning into the mad house

He's improving the squad but not the team. Without injuries he wouldn't get near our first XI.

And whilst we do have injuries when they clear what are we left with? Less cash and Darren fecking Gibson sitting on the bench, raking in more wages than we can afford.

Unless of course Rodwell's off and this is his fraction of the price/talent replacement.

Improving the squad number wise but thats it.

Cahill...yes, because he's a attacking midfielder/support striker
Neville or Heitinga - No, not really as they're better defensive midfielders than Gibson.
Neville and Heitinga together - always a bad call but one or the other will play there when Fellaini and Rodders are injured, and will defo be there when Gibson turns up.

He's a central midfielder. Cant play on the wing. Cant defend. No doubt Moyes will get him playing everywhere.

He's a body. Not an improvement. Not in the slightest.

But you cant expect improvements for £1-2million can you.

Haha I know mate.

Desperately looking for positives here.

Well he won't dribble past players, play incisive passes or show any kind of flair at all. I think they're positives aren't they? We don't seem to let our players who have those attributes play very much so I can only assume they are!
