Darron Gibson

As long as it's at the right price then ok. We need something more in midfield.. can't believe how woeful Billy was last night.. Believe Moyes will be able to improve Gibson's game if he goes for him.

Even for 1 mil it's nowhere near the positions we definetely need to strengthen. It's 1 mil thrown away where we already have at least 3 players capable of playing, and frankly I'd rather have Cahill there than taking money from wherever to buy another squad player for a position that's already covered.
Rodwell, Fellaini, Heitinga, Cahill, Neville. (And even Bily.) That would be my priority at least so no need for more.
In the attacking position we have Osman and Barkley. And if that 1 mil would be the difference between having 3,5 or 4,5 mil to pay for a replacement here then it should be earmarked.
At left midfield we have Gueye and Bily who remain to convince me. At right midfield we have Coleman and Anichebe at a push. (When Drenthe and Donovan leave). At striker we have Saha, Vellios, Anichebe and maybe McAleny. As long as our centrebacks are injured I feel there's need for cover, but Duffy can obviously stand in so to me it ain't top priority yet.

We've been crying for a creative midfielder for years though. Even when Arteta and Pienaar were here. And of course, we need the much coveted movement of our other players.

Coleman will make the squad if he is fit. Gibson should too, if he gets a few games under his belt.

Massive over-reaction here to what will be a bargain buy. Give the lid a chance before condemning him FFS.

Naa. If he's the first of a couple and does only cost one million then maybe.

But when you have the manager saying we don't have much/any money then its not really, we need creativity and a goalscorer before we need Darren Gibson.

That concerns you? OK. So we don't sign him and we're then dependent upon Neville and Heitinga to pick up the slack in central midfield when we can't select Rodwell and Felliani. This concerns me more to be honest.

Not for one moment to do I expect to become our first choice central midfielder, but however you approach it - he's better than the alternatives we currently have available. The squad is stretched very thinly, bodies are needed to ensure that there isn't complete meltdown between now and May, oh and we haven't got much/any money.

If he's available just by buying out the remainder of his contract then at £1m I'd happily take him as it adds to the squad and reduces the pressure on our other midfielders who are patently not 100% fit at the moment.

However, I'm sure that the majority on here are more aware than Moyes as to which other players are available at suitable prices and salaries to ensure that Everton have enough cover throughout the squad.

I genuinely think that if we announced we were signing Lionel Messi then some people would mutter "FFS he's not big/strong/quick enough".

Be realistic. He's available, affordable, he fits a current need and Moyes obviously thinks he's suitable. I'd love a 20 goal striker and a flying creative winger but with our resources? Good luck.

Darren Gibson can't get into a United Midfield ahead of a lad who's been suffering from a severe illness that much he's had to take a break from the game, and their's Paul Scholes retires for six months without playing aged 35 and comes straight in before him, I know for a fact Darren Gibson won't improve Everton , why sign players for the sake of it, keep the money and put it towards what if any we'll have in the summer and sign a proper footballer from abroad, we lack creativity Darren Gibson has none , just a decent shot from distance and he's the boo boy of the United squad

I don't think we're getting a creative player or striker for this type of money. This could also mean someone is on his way out, hopefully to raise some funds.

I don't really think Gibson is as bad as most make him out to be. And if he's given a few opportunities off the bench and in cup games, he might grow into a player.

For what its worth i think he is a decent signing 4 the price and where we r at at present. People mention heitinga and neville - but last night one was playing in defence and the other at right back so they can't be relied on to cover cm as well. Gibson is still only 26 so will improve

We have Osman , Fellaini , Rodwell , Barkley , Heitinga
Tell me here and now what Darren Gibson has which will improve us please

We arent the place were Utds rubbish go to die

People are going into full meltdown mode here and it's ****ing ridiculous.

Saying 'he can't get into United's midfield' does not mean he is crap full stop. Believe it or not there are players who have had a poor time at United and gone on to do much better things, and there are players (like Ruud VN) who were dropped by Ferguson way before their time was up.

I always see tons of complaints when it's Neville and Heitinga in midfield, but then many of those same people are complaining about the purchase of a player for £1m who is actually a midfielder. Is he a world beater ? Of course not. But we can't afford world beaters.

We obviously need a striker, but we also need more proper midfielders who can be back up for Rodwell or Fellaini. Gibson would do that.

Yeah, I don't get the "he can't get a game over Fletcher or a retired Scholes." Neither would anyone in our current midfield save Fellaini. Paul Scholes would walk right in from the pub and drastically change this squad with a few passes.
