HIBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (8)

Not a big fan of him, but probably for this fee it's good decision to take a risk. Ross Barkley if developed properly (have my doubts, as Rodwell is far away from we all hoped 2-3 years ago) will end as AM or advanced playmaker on the wing, so Gibson won't stop his progress. Still we don't have anyone with a playmaking mind in centre midfield (Osman is the closest probably, but don't think Moyes will ever play him in deeper role), but playing Gibson there should be a better option than Cahill or Neville.

This thread is getting out of hand. Everton fans insulting other Everton fans. People with unrealistic views and opinions.

At the end of the day the club is skint. So Moyes and co work a deal to bring in a player who hasn't exactly lit the world on fire club football wise for next to nothing. Ok it may rise depending on appearance etc.... but i think even though i am not a fan of Gibson being an Irishman and having watched him play for Ireland i am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He is 24 and needs games to show people what potential he may have. Obviously when he was a youngster he had bags of it otherwise he would not of got a Utd contract. Fergie kept him around for a reason. People have many views why but all of that being said we have him now.

Lets get behind the lad love him or hate him he will wear a blue shirt. For once we sign a recognised player who still has potential and in these tough times for the club i am happy with that even if i still despise the running of our club.

Lets not fight each other or call fellow blues kopites or reds or whatever thats just petty and silly. Forums are for opinions have yours, be civil and leave it at that.

Fair enough, now he's in the blue shirt I'll support him to the hilt like any other Everton player.

In 1-2 years he will be worth at least double what we're paying for him if he plays which you've got to expect he will. He's only 24 so there'll be demand for him if he does anywhere near well. If he's a bit meh we could sell him on for a profit in a year or two a la beckford.

Seen some video footage of him scoring a great goal and I could see that off the ball he runs into space then when he gets the ball and passes to a team mate he moves into more space giving the player with the ball an opportunity to pass it back to him and then scores from it. I can't for the life of me think how he is going to fit into the Everton team with skils like that - static, static, static is the Everton way. With a bit of coaching though I'm sure we can cure him of this feature of his game - static, static, static :). I do believe he'll be an asset and will increase the wealth of our club in the long term, we shouldn't feel ashamed or frustrated with no money to spend if it means we get to buy talent for small fees, we should celebrate some sound industrious haggling. I'm looking forward to see him blossom and become a great player for us, honest.

Darron,Darron Gibson, he's just signed for Everton you see,
From the town of derry, he'll go down in blue history

Gibson, he can make every pass
Gibson, goes for goal, he's pure class

To the tune of the Flintstones. Feel free to add more.

Don't think he plays as high up the pitch as Cahill. Considering most United fans always say "Shooot" i'd have thought most of his goals are shots from outside the box?

I imagine that he's been bought to be in the middle of a 4-4-2 and to get forward to score goals from the edge of the box. On a positive note it would seem like the end of 4-4-1-1. However, you have to ask whether we're planning on Rodwell not being there. We might have got Gibson for such a low price as a sweetener.

Can everyone stop waiting to see how he plays in his first twenty starts and instead judge this deal immediately.

Oh wait...

Welcome to paradise Gibbo mate. Everyone is given a fair chance by Everton fans, it's just you've already been labelled a united reject and a load of sh!t. NSNO.

Nothing but the best fans slinging **** at their own.

I agree with you there.

However if we are planning on Rodwell on not being here then surely the same could be said of Barkley and then there is always Fellaini too.

I suspect that with all of them a midfield 3 would line up something like this

Fellaini
Rodwell Gibson

Interesting to see who will play though in a 4-4-1-1

Fellaini - Gibson or Fellaini - Rodwell or Gibson - Rodwell

Time will tell.
