I reckon he'll surprise us tbh.

My brother is a mental Utd fan and he always liked Gibson. He says it was his attitude that let him down.

Without going back through all of the thread, i'm interested to see if any "in the knows" called this early. Reward my faith, oh prophets of fume.

This thread is getting out of hand. Everton fans insulting other Everton fans. People with unrealistic views and opinions.

At the end of the day the club is skint. So Moyes and co work a deal to bring in a player who hasn't exactly lit the world on fire club football wise for next to nothing. Ok it may rise depending on appearance etc.... but i think even though i am not a fan of Gibson being an Irishman and having watched him play for Ireland i am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He is 24 and needs games to show people what potential he may have. Obviously when he was a youngster he had bags of it otherwise he would not of got a Utd contract. Fergie kept him around for a reason. People have many views why but all of that being said we have him now.

Lets get behind the lad love him or hate him he will wear a blue shirt. For once we sign a recognised player who still has potential and in these tough times for the club i am happy with that even if i still despise the running of our club.

Lets not fight each other or call fellow blues kopites or reds or whatever thats just petty and silly. Forums are for opinions have yours, be civil and leave it at that.

-The Guardian are reporting £500k fee. I'm happy with that, especially when you compare it to how much we were going to pay for the young Irish striker.
-Rooney, Cahill and Neville persuaded him to sign.
-Everton showed interest a month ago.
-His goalscoring record is actually better than his Wikipedia listing suggests: 3 in 14 league starts for United, 2 in 6 FA Cup starts, 3 in 10 Carling Cup starts and 2 in 7 starts in other competitions.
-Perhaps he's seen as Cahill's eventual successor?
Cheers for posting that mate.

You are a prize bell. Someone disagrees with you so they are a kopite? It saddens me that your expectations of this club have sunk so low that you are happy with Arteta out for £10M and Gibson in for £500K, that strikes me as a kopite attitude (see what I did there?). It seems to me that you and DT are more interested in getting players ready for the euro's with Ireland than you are about this club, so don't call me a kopite for me it's always Everton first. How about you?

Personal insults - that's quite kopite as well.

Secondly, there is a huge difference between labelling someone a kopite (which I didn't do), and describing their behaviour as kopite. A difference that you don't seem to be able to grasp.

Thirdly. " You are happy with Arteta out for £10m". Where in the depths of your imagination did you invent that from ? Nobody has mentioned MA in this thread. Making things up in an attempt to support your argument is poor form.

Fourth. You claim " For me it's always Everton first". WELL GET BEHIND OUR PLAYERS THEN. Especially a new signing who will need our support.

im happy weve signed someone atleast,

to be honest like the lad hasnt been given a chance at united an with
the squad theyve got youve got to be 'world class, there and then
unless your a youngster breaking through odd game now an then,

got a good shot the lad, but so has billy so not getting to excited
never knew much of cahill before he come .. etc, lets just hope moysey can
sort him out, hope he gets a few games like

hes a blue now so will still by him, unless he pisses me off ofc.

:)

Don't think he plays as high up the pitch as Cahill. Considering most United fans always say "Shooot" i'd have thought most of his goals are shots from outside the box?

Good post.

As an aside, surely "behaving like a kopite" would mean blindly accepting and regurgitating the positive statements of an approved-of manager about an underperforming player up until the point that the player leaves, and then insisting that everything that was said about that player was true and that you had said it all along anyway?

Great post .

The lad will be wearing a blue shirt so let's get behind him regardless of your previous opinion of him. If a fresh start at a new club for him. Sometimes that's what a player needs to push on and let's hope this is one of those occasions. COYB
