That's not rewriting history, that's just excluding the negative things you want to focus on.

Yes, we've had a terrible first half of the season.

But we've been here before - where would Everton be if they'd sacked Moyes in May 2004, or in December 2005, or in October 2008?

As for Wigan's relegation, nobody harped on about Joe Royle getting Oldham relegated (after keeping them up for years like Martinez did with Wigan) in May 1994 & getting the Everton job 5 months later.
Royle didn't get the job because of the job he did at Oldham though, he got the job because of his connections with this club and he is still pound for pound our best manager of the past 25 years

Haha .. It's funny this but Mclaren has a better CV than Martinez. Built a boro side and took them onto a carling cup final and uefa cup final and didn't do too bad at Twente. Obviously wouldn't be the replacement but it's funny when you think how he won a trophy, got to a european final and won a league abroad haha.. Crazy.

I believe Brian Clough was heavily linked during his prime in the 70's.
Him and Revie, Clough supposed to have knocked it back as he wanted total control of all football matters, whiich the board woulnt give him, went as far as going to goodison to discuss it.
True story about mclaren when we were beating boro at goodison he was down below watching a race he had a horse in, while the game was going on, my mate was on security and the minge wouldnt even give him the tip. it lost by the way so its a no from me.

Since he was crucified as the England manager - he got the job far too early - with the brolly, McLaren has recovered well. Was successful in Holland with an unfashionable club and appears to be doing good things with Derby. I don't think there is any genuine mileage in this story, but as someone else noted... we could do worse.
