So, three months earlier than scheduled, my Ribble Endurance SL arrived yesterday.

Looks great, rides great from the quick 5 mins I had just testing it up and down the street. Going to be getting on a 35kish steady one later today and test it out properly.

No excuse not to hit the big hills now though :D I've got a training plan which is basically focused on working my way back to my peak last year and then pushing on from there. If anyone has any advice on training zones etc, I'm all ears - really loving using the custom ones on Zwift atm and obviously with the nicer weather (and shiny new wheels) I'll be getting out as much as poss.

Next purchase will be some carbon wheels, when the time is right.

@Bruce Wayne I vaguely remember me saying to you last April that I didn't think I'd be going the whole hog - how wrong I was :D

Looks good! Let us know how you get on. I was looking at their stuff myself recently, heard good things.

will do

the one slightly odd thing I've noticed is that the skirt (I think that's the term for it) at the bottom of the headset spins all the way out. Have checked with Ribble and it's supposed to, but it is slightly off-putting when it doesn't go back in fully - makes it look like it's out of alignment

It is certainly addictive, especially now the weather is so nice. Regarding training, obviously it depends on what you're looking to achieve to a great extent, but for generally getting fitter the SST workouts are a good bang for your buck.

Thanks mate. Yes I mainly do SST. Looking to improve my power a bit so I know it's threshold intervals. I'm certainly 10x fitter than I was this time last year. I can do a pretty nippy ride for an hour and a half and stay in Z2 easy enough. Just trying to increase my power a bit for climbs.

I guess most climbs in the UK are perhaps around 5 minutes long, so ZeCanon intervals might be good too. 6x5 min intervals at 105% of your FTP with 1 minute easy between them. They're pretty hard, and the last couple of intervals should be very difficult. As such, whereas you can probably do a few SST workouts a week, you'll need decent rest after this kind of session.

Lovely stuff, thanks mate. Will give that a try!

Yeah, happy to minimise time spent on Zwift when I can get out and just cruise, but at least get the most out of a good training session where I can see my wattage without paying £££ for a power meter for my road bike. Still go for the love of riding, but it's nice to push myself a bit too.

Is Ribble a build-it-yourself brand or did a shop build that for you? Looks nice.

Yeah it's a mix of both, really.

I really loved the customisation options, so you pick all the tiny details you want online, then order it, and it's built in their factory which I believe is near Blackburn.

Shipped in a box directly to your chosen address, and then it's a case of putting the headset on, pedals on (they're obviously extra £ to buy but I had some spare SPD ones) and all but good to go.

Was estimated delivery mid June, so was shocked to have it arrive so early.

Got out on it this evening, lovely to ride, just took some getting used to as even though the Jamis I've previously used is carbon, this one feels much lighter. Very nimble, really quick off the mark and reactive.

Flanders on Sunday. Can't wait. Classic footage from the 80s below. That gearing :hayee:

Immense.
MvdP looked very subdued yesterday in Dwars but who knows, might have been keeping his powder dry.

You ever done any of the classic sportives Bruce? The road side of my club has been over a few times and rated Flanders as exceptional, but Roubaix they weren't keen to repeat for some reason. Think it was more the destination - the greatest road race in the world ends in the French equivalent of Burnley. I'd like to try at least one in the future.

I'm only small so the cobbles would not be my friend. Give me a mountain and I'm happy.

Still enjoying it? I am looking for a gravel bike and that's a competitive price (although I have not looked at their delivery to US costs...) but the build I want is only offered with a 1x and I don't want a 1x.
