Love watching the Tour. Not for the cycling but what wonderful shots of rural France. Reminds me of old hitchhiking days through sun-drenched villages.

He has been been substandard for the entire season- bad preparation, Sky investigation troubles I don't know. They can take him but they should stop racing like idiots. If he makes mistakes in the descent, make it as difficult as possible for him to come back. Mechanical problems same ... Not how they were doing. Somebody should have a word with Landa; he is going to leave Sky in the end of December is the rumour. So he won't be the ideal helper. Bardet and AG2R are correct, everybody should stop racing for him, and start racing against him. They can take him and his team. I don't expect big differences in the final Marseille TT, so not a lot is needed.

If they do this we are in for a good race.

Landa will be virtual leader before long. Real pressure being put on Aru has he has no teammates at all. If the Quintana group joins up with Contador and Landa then it'll be really interesting.

Froomes making a good effort at making this look competitive. (No need to attract suspicion).

He will go full alien and destroy aru in the tt.

Strange by sky today send landa up the road and use him as a rabbit, bet landa is delighted!

And once again... how boring will it be when Contador retires..

I quite like Nibali, but he's quite a bit below the best GT riders of his generation.

Is he? He has his faults... cracks in the mountains quite a lot but he is an instinct rider. Forget the power meter, he senses weakness and attacks! Like Bertie.

I'll remember nibbles far more fondly than the alien dawg.

Oh... and at least he has the balls to ride the giro

The balls to ride his home Tour? Suffice to say, I prefer the Giro to the other two GTs, and prefer riding in Italy generally, and would very much love riders to compete in all of the Tours across the season, but no one has done that and been vaguely competitive since Sastre. Not sure it's a stick to beat people with.

It was a nice stage today and I'm pleased for Landa. He looked just as strong in the Giro and would surely have challenged but for his crash on Etna. Also nice for Bertie to have a bit of a swansong, and even Quintana must now be back in contention again at just 2 minutes back. I believe Sunday is the next big day, so should be interesting.

Eh Valverde did it last year. Third in the Giro; 6th in the Tour; somewhere around tenth in the Vuelta (don't remember the exact position) but could have been better.
