It's been closed for 3+ weeks now.

It had been a credit to the community here for 5/6 years but unfortunately, it needed a pause to take the sting out of the ugly direction in which it was going.

... but now it's been closed for a short period, has GOT been better without it? Should we keep it closed? or do you think we should bring it back?

It's just like England under covid.

At first I was delighted that there were no planes in the sky and the environment could take a break. I had long wondered about the English obsession with holidaying overseas while Britain sported some of the best and most varied and condensed landscapes in the world. I'd always preferred to holiday on the uk.

Then I realised what holidaying in the uk was like when the English couldn't go abroad for a bit. The place was suddenly overcrowded with the ale addled vest wearing stinking louts we normally inflict on other countries. I'm now firmly in favour of overseas holidays for others, whatever the environmental cost (we're buggered now anyway).

This is what the GOT has been like since the current affairs has shut. Absolute melts in every thread! For the love of all that's holy OPEN IT UP!!

It was a festering boil that has now been lanced and the poison removed.

The poison will come back once the wound is opened again

Have a pinned alehouse thread where people can suggest a topic and if a 'Big' 'burning question' (like brexit) pops up and gets enough likes - open it on an 'As and When' basis

If the option is to bring it back or allow CA topics in the Ale House then I'd say bring it back as it least that way @chicoazul and @davek won't need constant thread bans. It's just a matter of managing the lifecycle of the multi's then innit.

I don’t use it but it has to come back. It’s a little containment cell for the dangers that have started plaguing the Ale House.

I would say bring it back, but with some form of tighter controls to stop the bellends.
