Sadly, I think we need a few years with a Labour government in charge. The reality is that no matter how bad a Conservative government is, the Labour Party alternative is indefinitely and infinitely worse...

Once in a generation, the young, naive, idealists need a painful reminder.

Hey how about it, reading that did make me feel better

Serious question mate. As this is the positivity thread. Can you name something the tories have done to improve people’s lives over the last 12 years ago?
I seem to recall May pushing for support for survivors / victims of DVA.

Actually a decent agenda.

A few countries eg Usa, Australia have been moving away from the right wing extremists in the past few years. Italy has obviously not been paying attention and is hopefully a one off, but I think there is a general move away from leaders that promote hate and division
From a distance, I’m sure that’s what it looks like since we managed (only just) to remove Trump from office at the ballot box last time around. As someone who lives his daily life in a deep-red American state, I can categorically tell you that a large percentage of Americans are doubling down on right-wing extremism. God help us all if they ever regain any meaningful control of the levers of power.

For a tiny bit of positivity to go with the thread’s theme…it took about nine months, but right now fuel prices here are roughly back down to where they were prior to the Ukraine invasion early this year, so that’s nice.

Not this year, we were there last year. We started 10 days ago in Searsport then to Camden and ended in Boothbay Harbor. Visited several little Maine villages and ate more lobsters and oysters than we should have.

Best vacay in a very long time.
Lovely spot, we have friends we go and stay with on Islesboro, a short ferry ride from just outside Camden.
