first of all don`t let your bias/presumptions get in the way. i`m not a fan of Tate or Shapiro, understand this as `a broken clock is right twice a day`. i had to look up deadname because i`d never heard of it before. also, you use a lot of hip buzz words but you`ve never heard of compelled speech! very strange, but hey carry on policing language, i`m sure it`ll end well.
I mean, none of the words I just used are buzzwords so that’s a weird take.
You talk about policing language, but why do you deliberately ignore the main point which is the undeniable fact that him posting targeted abuse to Yumi Nu, and Eliot Page is undeniably pathetic, cruel and out of order. Evidently no one is policing his speech seen as he has numerous platforms from which he is allowed to spout his gross hate filled nonsense, the only reason he got banned on Twitter was because he had directly targeted one specific trans person and sent them an abusive message.
I hate all of this “free speech means free speech” crap, the people who whine about it are always doing that whining LITERALLY on social media, or even news platforms. Obviously these people have the right to be cruel, callous bigoted pricks, but society also has a right to respond to those backwards bigoted toxic views. If society by and large feels those views aren’t palatable, then they get their job opportunities limited as a result or “cancelled” as Peterson and his pack of bellends would say.
Here’s a straight up question, let’s say for example a video of a person went viral where this person was being incredibly racist / homophobic / misogynistic. Do
you feel that person should face consequences for their actions? If
you were their employer would you keep them in their job?
