I do wonder how many flat earthers actually exist. A lot seem like rage bait accounts and the comments are largely full of people slagging them off.

That flat earth Dave or whatever he’s called has probably made a fortune.

Yeah, it is a weird one. But I suspect another instance of just being anti-establishment-for-attention for the sake of it. But you'd think they'd just pick a more plausibly sounding conspiracy theory, like Democrats are sex-trafficking children in the basement of a locally-owned pizza place.

I have seen a lot of people referencing some verse in the bible for proof that the earth is flat which is a good one.

There does appear to be a fringe Christian flat earth movement. Which I want to get in on.

I actually find them less offensive than climate change deniers, though i suspect a strong crossover on that Venn diagram

I would imagine there’s a very large crossover there. a flat earther who agreed with climate science would be totally insane.

I think it's quite simple.

Most people don't want to feel like the bad guy in the narrative, but sadly a lot of these in hock to the Right are pretty crappy people overall and have to find a way to justify being anti-immigrant, anti-gay, or whatever. If they invent some imagined oppressive force ("The Woke Hive Mind") then they're free to cast themselves as some brave free speech revolutionary battling for a just cause.

Whilst just so happening to go on being a crappy person.
