Just as an aside, the deadline for nominations is 4pm today (ie: when that tweet was sent) and you can only apply for it if seeking re-election. Also if you sign up for this largesse you will probably be kicked out of the party that gives you far more money.
I would imagine most of the money set aside for this will in fact find itself going up someone's nose.

Then somewhere between then and now, where he has acquired a £20m fortune, and got himself into hot water over sexual inappropriateness, he’s suddenly advocating voting for Donald Trump.
Almost like he’s a self-interested moral vacuum, who’ll say and do anything as long as it increases his personal wealth.
