Dunno why Rowling has waded in to all this. Multi millionaire but decided she should use her wealth and fame to attack trans people online. Comes across as a very unhappy and bitter person.

It baffles me. The same thing happened with Linehan, a seemingly normal, successful individual becoming utterly unhinged over something that doesn't impact them in the slightest. I understand people having an opinion, but the sort of mad, ongoing crusade they embark on doesn't make any sense to me

Sunak doing pointless transphobia instead of doing his job again

It should be pointed out here that the Government's code of practice over non-crime hate incidents (link here for the terminally bored) is at least as stupid a piece of legislation as this Scottish one is, and possibly more so (given that the same government has repeatedly criticized police inaction that is happening directly as the result of the law they changed).

This Scottish thing is still daft, mind. The starting point of any legislation around hate crimes nowadays should be going after the publishers; that is Twitter, Facebook, TikTok etc. If you run an un-moderated (or loosely moderated) forum and profit from publishing content (even if its not that content), then you pay when people use it to spread abuse. In fact, given that extra police resources are being devoted to investigating things spread via such platforms then really they should be taxed too.

A mediocre talent who fluked success and now uses that to push hate on a minority group. Associates with some really awful folk

This is a great point actually. If the platforms pulled their socks up and actually moderated hate speech then the whole issue would be massively diminished.

My post was more criticising Sunak for defending a holocaust-denying transphobic monster, to distract from the how awfully he’s done his job as PM, and his party has done as a government.

That and I really hate Rowling. Can’t stand her smug little grin when she’s just a billionaire bigot who wrote a meh children’s series

She's quite nasty.

I have no dog in the trans wars, I find it an utterly toxic debate where both sides hold some valid positions and both sides have been absolutely foul.

Rowling though, is a divisive little [Poor language removed]. Don't tell me her using Robert Galbraith as a nom de plume was by coincidence.

She and Linehan have absolutely shat the bed over this issue.
