This is their latest vehicle to somehow belittle people in to thinking they are softer than they were in the 70's cos no one ever moaned about a heatwave then.

I think you are missing the point. There’s loads of these memes and they are the standard “todays people are liberal softies and not like us older, tough gammons” despite this being utter bullsh**
I'm not missing the point at all. I dislike the use of phrases like "brown man" whoever is using it. I think you take memes like the one you posted far too seriously. I am in my mid-sixties and would qualify as a "gammon" under your definition. You using it as a general pejorative term is as ridiculous, moronic and meaningless as the things you are objecting to in the first place.
I totally get this, however, the people posting them on my feed are all the same who are obsessed with trans, taking the knee (Rashford) and immigrants. That is why I lumped them in to the gammon bracket. I know it is not to every ones taste but trust me, nor are these guys I am describing.
And also, you only qualify as a "gammon" if you get angry and abusive about things like those above. Many of my mates are your age and certainly are not like that.

Calling someone a gammon is far from being as moronic as a climate change denier.
I would not describe someone as a gammon based purely on age. My own parents are of gammon age if you will, and I consider myself truly blessed to have progressive open minded parents whose views have changed with the times and the science, never getting stuck in one era or allowing grifters to fool them into disparaging other generations.
You misunderstand me. His career, as an author, as a debater, as a public intellectual, depends on him stoking the fires of the culture war at every opportunity.
His clinical psychology career is over, as far as I know, no longer seeing patients, he’s ceased teaching classes, and now holds the position of Professor Emeritus (I.e. An honorary title).

i thought he was trying to put out that fire. maybe as a professor at a university his career is over, i don`t know -but as to reaching a wider audience his books and videos are certainly filling that void
