Yea can never take to these ‘self proclaimed left wingers’ who think being pro choice or anti gun makes them a socialist. Doubt they have any idea of what being left wing really entails.

Every bit of air time they give to a lunatic like Peterson is a disgrace in itself as well tbh, even if they are trying to DESTROY him,
 
There's a simple part of me that thinks: this man is a qualified psychologist, whatever you can say about him he was considered pretty distinguished in his field. Surely he's clocked how utterly deranged he is?

Well you have to work out whether he is just doing it for the grift or if he genuinely believes what he is saying. I’m actually not sure with Peterson. Initially I thought he was just grifting to appeal to a certain demographic but he seems to be hurtling down the rabbit hole at quite some rate.

It's sort of the problem of America really mate, where being a liberal counts as being left wing. Or being a bit radical in your liberalism.

Socialism is a qualitatively different set of thinking. Its not about toying around the edges of a flawed system. Most proclaimed Americsn leftists dont get it at all. They just come across (to me anyway) as more intelligent supporters of capitalism.

I havent watched the interview, but he has all the hallmarks of someone who would go into a paranoid psychosis to me. It really wouldnt take a lot to flip him there at all.

The UK left, for some reason unknown to me, has started to look to the American "left" as some sort of model of success.

I mean the short answer is that it's a product of defeat. If you cant imagine ever having a fairer society, you become more inward looking and just want to adjust the system to make it more palatable to yourself. Theres a much longer discussion of course, but in essence that's the core of it to me.
