This non sequitur must be a symptom of the of the level reading comprehension that could interpret anything I've posted as an endorsement of the content of the article.
It's just amusing to watch grown ups get outraged about it, it's analogous to the right wing free speech warriors all of a sudden crying about the Barbie movie.

What an oddly constructed sentence. You are trying too hard to appear intelligent.

Love how the big, strong, alpha male types burst into virtual tears when ever someone points out how stupid their life mantras are :hayee:

the thing that does my head in is that it isn't a meme of classical times, its a meme of Islamic times (especially in Spain where the religious invaded the land, their sons enjoyed the land, their grandsons were degenerates who lost the land and were replaced by more religious)

Oh look. a Spiked reader

Interesting read.

‘The reason I never took Tate seriously is that toxic masculinity arguments are so riven with contradictions. The message is one of self-discipline, the gym, self-denial, physical endurance and almost monastic self-abnegation – yet the big prize at the end, the thing it’s all in the service of, is tits and cars.

That is not even the half of it, Shea says, rattling through the logical failings of the creed: “Traditional masculine men are stoic and don’t have emotions, but they also somehow whine constantly about how the world is stacked against them. Men are protectors of women, but then if the women who are making these allegations against Tate are correct, then who protects women from men like Andrew Tate? Family courts are unfair towards men because women often get custody of children, but that’s exactly because of the traditional gender roles that they themselves are espousing. It makes no sense, but it doesn’t need to make sense.”

Cracking article isn't it?

The other interesting observation is that none of what is espoused is externally consistent or coherent and is actually ultimately inconsistent. But it doesn't matter because it empowers the those espousing the message and the followers, but also critically winds up those who are likely to oppose - "choke on their indignation". Which then acts as grist to the mill.

It feels really dangerous not to call out these bell ends, but I suspect part of the thrill for younger folk is the feeling of somehow having an enemy, creal or imagined, they upset.

Either way, with any luck the Romanian judiciary have Tate banged up and being fed dog food for a long time.

It’s always mad when someone calmly deconstructs and exposes these arguments in such a simple way.

That’s what needs to happen more instead of people getting angry and retaliating.
