I will be amazed if Labour get anywhere near a majority. Can see a fairly weak coalition coming in, which would be an absolute failure given what’s gone on but people will herald it as a victory for ‘centrism’
With him announcing scrapping their pledge about tuition fees, and scrapping tax increases for the top 5% of earners, I can see why traditional labour voters would be turned off. I certainly was already but that just cemented my feelings

Their communications and PR teams are abysmal. Tories will come out with some simple mad right wing slogans and Labour will tie themselves in knots again with complicated and nonsensical messages.
Wouldn’t even be surprised to see a repeat of 92.

University will be gone soon enough. There are cheaper ways to get information in to brains these days. Online courses are far cheaper to implement - outcomes academically the same, although not sure about the social side.
Thankfully I got full grant for three years of boozing and pulling! Not sure my kids will have the chance

I'm doing an open uni degree and to state the outcome is the same is a bit of a simplified outlook. If I can get to a lecture or tutorial in person it makes a massive difference, and if you are doing a team work assignment online just forget about it and do the work yourself.

The cost online is approx 19 grand for a 3 year degree.

Yeah I agree, but the the direction of travel is likely that that online learning is going to be cheaper. Ai will mark the majority of work, lectures carried out by video. The same each year, with the occasional footnote for changing or new ideas. The cost to deliver that course will get cheaper each year. Universities need to manage facitities, cleaners, hire tutors, librarians, heating, - fees will increase.
Not saying it’s better, but if you are a working class family, self study online courses might be you best bet for getting letters after your names.
Going away to university was the best thing I did in life. Just can’t see future generations feeling the same. The chance to get study and not leave the bedroom.
While the more established university will carry some weight, I think online learning will likely be better choice than heading off to a Sunderland / hunddesfield uni ect.

Nah I don’t think this will happen in the foreseeable future. Students and universities are seen important commodities to a lot of cities and any changes to this will be met with a lot of resistance.
People want to get away at that age as well.

Factor in essential research facilities aswell. The drop off from practical studies would be gigantic.

I think you are correct.

It may well be the case for professional quals, and a lot of providers of the likes ACCA, CIMA, CIPD etc are already way down the path of distance/blended learning due to needs of those cohorts - balancing study around a full time job/career.

Research based teams would still need real world interaction etc.

Having had two kids doing alevels and gcses online during lockdown, it is not nearly as effective as a physical class/lecture/practical.

Majority would require the fourth biggest swing in UK political history.

Starting from a normal base I agree that you could expect these sort of historic swings, given what has gone on. But starting from the 2019 election position? Be serious.
