Hart the only credible link there, the club doesn't leak. It's the last week of the window, I think Gana would have been purchased anyway as he was highly rated by Walsh. Gabbiadini and ghezzal have popped up last week, it's called panic buying.

Actually think you will find that Gabbiadini was linked with Leicester in January and again in June by the media - supposedly Ranierri liked him, so have to calculate that Walsh was sent to scout the lad and that is where the itnerest comes from - so hardly a panic buy and more likely someone he's had on his list from when he was at leicester.

Ghezzal - Leicester where getting linked with interest in him as of May - so yet again another that is almsot certain to be a target due to being on Walshes radar for a whilst - so again how is that a panic buy?

Like I said above, I think Gana would have been a target anyway, Walsh knew all about him. He's been really good so far.

My whole point was we are short and needed certain areas strengthening which haven't been and I'm not particularly happy about it. Under no circumstances should we have just one first team striker this late it's neglectful, we have been thankful Stek has had a good start but we all knew we needed a real first team keeper.

Fully agree. We need a striker even if Lukaku stays injury free and Kone hits a purple patch!!! one, two strikers on the books of a team hoping to compete at the top is not enough. 3 or 4 is the requirement these days.

The goalkeeper is the priority position of any club. I would pay whatever it takes for Butland but understand if the club want Hart.
A lot of games are being played behind the scenes in this transfer window.
Deadline day will be chaos.

Because the window is nearly shut, we are desperate for a striker, if Gabbiadini had been a target it should have been sorted. Last 7 days panic buying now because we are short. Ghezzal has had a few good months from what i can gather, not exactly set the world alight and again he's just popped up with the end of the window in sight.

Panic buying maybe too strong a words but I'm disappointed deals haven't been done sooner.

I guess if we beat Stoke, then taking 7 points and cruising through the cup game, and then possibly adding a Carvalho/Hart/Mata/Witsel who finally blink and see us a better prospect for the next few years than sitting on a bench, would be a very good return from the window.

Football transfers have become horrendous though. Look at the length of time it took for Utd to sign Pogba. So much money going out of the game and into agents and 3rd parties pockets. :(

Yeah, I'm happy with the business done so far don't get me wrong but I am getting a little antsy about running out of time. If we lost Lukaku with no back up, we would be screwed royally.

Erm Martina, swerve.

Ok devil's advocate time.

Gabbiadini is a target, but Napoli are in the process of selling Higuain and then having to find a replacement - so basically no chance of getting him when all thats going on, now Napoli are interested in Zaza from Juve and we have bid on this lad.

Mate look around the league - most teams have either not done that much business so far or the business they have done is dubious quality at best - and VERY few big names have moved to the premiership and basically all gone to City and United that have.

Klopp who 'did his business early' for example is getting pelters now as the media have cottoned on to the fact they have holes everywhere in the squad and even they will have to go into the market again - same with the criticsm wengers getting.

West Ham have spent all summer chasing striekrs and got nothing
Spurs have added nowhere near the amount they need to do with CL games upcoming
Arsenal have bought one player basically - not sorted striker or cb out yet
Chelsea are getting linked woith more knockbacks on players than we are, and have holes all over thew show in defence
City are still trying to buy a starting keeper(the richest team in the world just played 2 games with willy in goal lol)
rs - have no defence, no defnesive midfielders and a joke left back
Saints have lost two of their best players, the manager and look in dissaray

Only City and United are looking to not have holes through the squads

Theres gonna be a lot of teams chasing signings the last week mate, we are far from being an exception

Mate I care not one jot about other teams, Everton having only 1 striker however is giving me angst. The business we have done is fine, we have known since may that we needed another striker and it hasn't been addressed, sorry but I'm concerned time is running out.

Martina boooo.

Thats the thing right now mate, could argue that only United have actually had a good window so far out the entire league, the best of the rest has been average being generous, gonna be a lot of movement in the last few days and only then will we be able to judge how succesful or not it's been compared to the rest of the teams.

We sign a Hart, Gabbiadini, Kone and another similar level player then there won't be many besides united you could say had a better window is my guess

Mate we will not start september without buying another striker.

Why did Koeman not try to rush one over the line before spurs? - likely he decided early on in pre seaosn to go with Deulofeu the first few games after trying him out there in pre season - and also he likely didnt expect Lukaku to cut his heel open either.

And maybe the ones he wanted he knew he may have to wait unti, near the end of the trtansfer window to get a hold of.

I'm not disagreeing with that. One of the reasons I really wish the window would shut before the season started. Then you know what you have got.

There's a lot of chess moves happening, if they don't come off we are lumbered with either 1 striker and Kone or a panic buy, or possibly a good buy but well over the price that he should be.

oh god mate, think everyone wishes it closed before the first game.

with a bloke like Walsh in charge of identifying targets - you have to put the trust in him that he has several on the go - so should one fall through then next one gets the nod to complete mate (whcih looking at it seems to already be the case with the Italian and Spanish players both being negotiated with) - if we pay over the price for someone im NEA atm mate if the lad comes in and does a good job

I'm not fuming yet, the window is open, just a bit nervous that's all.

Think we might be off topic anyway mate.

at the start of last season we had Baines, Oviedo, Garbutt vying for left back.

Within a few weeks of the season starting we had Galloway playing left back. That's how quick things can change.

Coleman might be out longer and that leaves us with just Holgate then. Pennington is out injured for a few months, Browning has been out for nearly 9 months. Not sure on Kenny as I thought he got injured away with England and then we are left with Connolly who can play in a variety of positions.

Colemans injury record isn't that great and it would be foolish to expect Holgate to continue his great start to the season so this seems like a sensible buy to me. Cover and competition from someone who can play right back as and when needed is something we've lacked in a long time.
