Everyone expecting Palace to be on the beach, but I suspect that might be us.

Players absolutely love to drop their levels. Are they gonna bust a gut for the outside chance of Europa conference league? Not convinced.
Lets wait n see mate. I hold out hope but i see your point

They have a good excuse to be distracted today after their win on Thursday, but I still expect us to go out to try to not lose from the start and make it a little easier for them to get into the game.

Everton have a lot more to play for in this game. European places are still mathematically possible for us, and that has to show in the players’ attitude and intensity from the first minute. Palace don’t really have anything left to play for in the league and they’ll obviously have one eye on the Conference League, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they rotate and keep a few players fresh.

Röhl absolutely has to start as well. If there’s a game to give him proper minutes, it’s this one.

And honestly, this is the moment for Moyes to loosen the reins a bit and set us up more aggressively. I still want to see the same fight and intensity we showed in the second half against City, but this is a game where we should be looking to take the initiative rather than just sit back and react.

Yep — I think many people have forgotten just how many times we've had a full week off and come up against a team that should by all accounts be tired after a mid week European game, only for us to look knackered and clueless from the first whistle and disgrace ourselves.

You'd hope this won't happen today under Moyes, but he's not been able to have the players produce any kind of respectable home record this season, happily forfeited both cup competitions and inexplicably sabotaged February to April (the entire season in the first case) by playing a centre half at right back, and playing McNeil out of position on the right even though he was diabolical in all but about one game, with numerous fresh, attacking players on the bench.

So, I don't hold out too much hope.

This is my reverse thinking theory, we won’t win today and we won’t get a European place next season. The reason for this is that most of our players don’t want us to qualify for Europe, it makes us a more attractive proposition for any transfer targets we might have. People we bring in will replace those currently occupying first team positions, to win today and in the following games would be akin to turkey’s voting for Christmas.
My use of the word turkeys was deliberate.
