The ref blew the whistle before it went out. It technically should have been a drop ball where the ball was at when the ref blew the whistle to the team that played it last which was palace. I think the referee took a little bit of liberty to say the ball was still in the penalty area when he blew the whistle so then it's a drop to the keeper.
Palace should have given us the ball back though.
