Latest poll before Sunday's election gives Putin almost 70% of the vote.

Vladimir's on course for a historic victory.

Russia pretending they didn't make novichok in the first place is basically an admission of guilt, because it's so ludicrous that it's obviously not going to be taken seriously by anyone.

That claim is a consequence of the OPCW being involved; they were only certified as free of chemical weapons in September 2017 so if its proved they still have some, or worse if they are still making it, then the consequences will be serious (and largely unavoidable).

The thing that largely escaped attention yesterday is that it wasn't clear whether or not we have actually referred this to the OPCW under the relevant bit of the CWC; May didn't answer Corbyn's question about it and a spokesperson was saying by the evening that referral was optional. It now appears that we have (at least based on what the ambassador at the UN said last night), though how that happened and what form its taken are still unknown.

..oh boy, that's a losing game you chose there for yourself.......Iraq, Afghanistan, a history of colonisation and butchery and imperialism in all its forms....the Russian state will have to be in existence for another 300 years to get up to that body count.

Stalin says Hi.

Havnt done the maths me, but suggesting Russia/USSR in all their guises have been a paragon of virtue is a bit steep. At least we said sorry.
Estimates of British rule in India alone are that economic policy and military crackdowns accounted for 53 million deaths.

Goodness knows what the consequences elsewhere in the Americas and Africa where.

I dont suppose we should get into a grisly game of whataboutery, but there's no gain for anyone defending "poor little Britain" from the big bad Russian Bear if you're factoring in their respective contributions to murder and mayhem around the globe.
