Cricket

Vilas looked distraught at the end. At 37 he won't have many more opportunities to win a trophy as captain.

Lancs batted poorly, with only Croft showing any fluency and his freakish dismissal was costly. Jennings hardly hit a clean shot other than his two magnificent Rohan Kanhai sweeps!

Vilas and Jennings took the decision to bat carefully after that, especially against the spinners, but then both gave their wickets away against the wily Daswon, Vilas when he had just two balls left. Then David flopped again - it might have been better to send him in earlier, not lower, and told him to try and hit a quick 20 or 30 against the spinners. That's hindsight though.

Great entertainment all day - tough on Lancs in the end but well done to Hants on defending a below par total.

At least we beat Yawkshire :)

Said this at the time but was on some crappy stream. They ran two byes, Hartley was not out both ends because of the video below and nobody noticed

Yes I heard about this and also that Hampshire changed their field for the free ball, which should therefore have been another no ball. Don't know if it was true. Chaos!

It was Lancs that changed the field for the free ball. Someone needs to tell Vilas you walk when you’re caught behind when you’ve nicked it. Not gamble on the hopeless DRS.

No, it refers to the last ball of the match after all the kerfuffle of the celebrations, fireworks etc.

I think you might be referring to the Hampshire dressing room's claim that Lancs didn't have the required number of fielders in the circle for Gleeson's final delivery.

I've no idea if either claim is true, and they are irrelevant now anyway.

Hampshire deserved to win.

That Ellis looks a great 'death' bowler.

Ah thanks. Yes I was. Hadn’t heard about the last ball claim.
Was a great game for the neutral and for cricket generally. Obviously I am very happy as well!
