Cricket

Was it you who wore the ball from Root's scoop? Whoever it was, it looked painful.
No I was a bit more square in relation to where it went. It had bounced in just after the rope and then into the crowd, but right onto an elderly guy, he was alright though thankfully

have some of that kohli you nob
Since the start of 2020 Kohli has yet to register a century and averages under 30. Smith has fared slightly better, but has only got 1 hundred in 14 tests, with his average some 20 runs lower than his overall average. Compare that to Root, who averages 57 and has scored 11 hundreds. He really has come into his own in the last few years.

Good signing, let's hope that Mahmood stays.

A bit more on this

Personally I'm not keen on Lancs bending the rules like this, although I know other counties do it. It's more understandable for a smaller county, like Northants or Derby. I know some of the younger bowlers have had injuries this season but when they are fit there is another experienced pro blocking their way into the team.

Obviously short term it strengthens the team and improves the chances of catching Surrey.

I think they've done it because of the amount of international call ups and the increase in international fixtures. He'll probably take Mahmood's spot in any case.

Yes highly likely. They may already know of Mahmood's intentions for next season.

From the little I've seen of Williams he looks ideal for county cricket so will strengthen the squad short term.

I know Blatherwick, Boyden and Aspinwall have all had injuries, though I think Boyden is fit again, but I would prefer to see one of them given a chance. Blatherwick looked good last season and took a few wickets for the County XI against NZ earlier this season, while Boyden was outstanding for the England u19s that reached the World Cup final.

Regarding Mahmood, I understand Warwickshire approached Lancs last month for permission to talk to him. They did the same with Worcester for Moeen and Ed Barnard. They've now announced the signings of those two for next season so there may be an announcement about Mahmood soon. Then again there will be other counties interested in him so he might hold on to see what other offers he gets.

Barnard is a very good, and much improved, player.
