Michael Holding has announced his retirement from the commantary box.

The word GREAT, is bandied about all over the show, but this is a truly GREAT man. Well worth a listen to what he’s saying here. Weirdly was on the same pitch as him once for a few overs as a stand in fielder. He was long retired and bowling off 2 or 3 paces, but what presence.

He will be missed. Sky's coverage will be a lot less enjoyable without him.

Hope he enjoys his retirement whatever he has planned.

Agree the word great is overused but he truly was a great cricketer, commentator, and more importantly, man.

One memory from his brief spell with Lancs: Viv Richards batting for Somerset, Holding bowls him a bouncer, Viv pulls it for four. Next ball, a quicker bouncer, Viv goes to pull, gets in a tangle, top edges to slip where Bernard Reidy clings on to the catch. Holding credits Andy Roberts for the bouncer/quicker bouncer trick.

What a voice
Graeme Fowler tells a good story about walking into a bar with Holding and the effect his voice had on women!
