For those who've crown up on proper cricket like ourselves, it's not the game. But, I think it may attract the younger or newer audience.Don't like it one bit. Test, 50 over and 20/20 all share similar characteristics but different length of game. This is just weird. And for no reason, 20 over stuff is fine for the shorter format. IMO.
If they marketed the T20 blast properly then they'd get the same crowds in. Like the IPL and Big Bash. For those who've crown up on proper cricket like ourselves, it's not the game. But, I think it may attract the younger or newer audience.
Like @tsubaki mentioned, the Oval looks lively and it will probably continue to attract people coming. Surely that can't be a bad thing for the game overall?

The Blast is better and people don't love that
Agree with this. Marketing and even 50% of money poured into the Hundred. Blast would need reforming though - too many games in the present format of two groups with teams able to lose 5 or 6 games and still qualify. Three groups of 6 would be better, top 2 qualify plus two best 3rd place teamsIf they marketed the T20 blast properly then they'd get the same crowds in. Like the IPL and Big Bash.
They used to put lancs v Yorks on a Friday night, we'd just about get tickets as it was a full house. Great atmosphere and drinks flowing.
Take issue with that.
There are very few stars (certainly on England one) playing regularly in the Blast.
IF the EBC insist with staying with the Hundred, then the Blast should be scrapped and all the stars & energy pumped in to this
But give me the IPL with full crowds and every single thing sponsored (& Danny Morrison on comms) every time
Difficult to pick a team, last night two Lancs players on opposing sides. Not a lot of thought gone into the demographics. You do tend to support your local team.I still think it will catch on and people will pick a team. The standard will be high with the best players spread around only 8 teams. I know lots of people don't like it, but 18 teams is too many to have a top level franchise style league.
A lot of club cricket is more and more going towards the shorter length of matches. Its a struggle to field a team a lot of weekends and it would be near impossible if matches were 40 or 50 overs rather than 20/25.
I love test cricket and hope nothing is done to change it, but in one day cricket, the shorter length is the one that will attract players and viewers. I dont necessarily like it, but it is what it is.
